What the difference between these two OEM Struts?

I am getting ready to DYI the struts on my 2009 Enclave. I noticed two OEM choices. One appears to be a gas charged strut and one isn't.

HAS ANYONE TRIED THE GAS PREMIUM STRUT? IF SO COULD YOU COMMENT?

I have a brand new pair of struts that I bought for my 2010 but never used. I will let you have them for a very good price. PM me.

One is OEM- as in what came on the vehicle from the factory.

the other is listed in the PROFESSIONAL category....

which is interesting-- because the BEST option-- is cheaper than the PROFESSIONAL-- which based on the description below comes in 2nd. Go figure.

see below for the explanation

Re: What the difference between these two OEM Struts?

Got down to the bone.......

Talked to a GM tech specialist....this is what I got out of the conversation - if you want to go ready strut.

Three companies make ready struts, Monroe, Gabriel and KYB, with KYB slightly stiffer. As to the Gas Strut/Shock (professional ) it is heavy duty in comparison to the OE strut/shock.

Since I don't want to mess with changing out the springs on the struts, I will go with one of the ready struts and gas rear shocks (professional).

Hope this helps making your decision when it comes up.

I went with the Gabriel Ready Struts for the same reason--- did not want to mess with compressing the coil and swapping the parts.
Also installed OE rear shocks.

the info on when I researched the Gabriels....

Re: What the difference between these two OEM Struts?

My 2008 has 117500 miles. The car rides horrible and the suspension seems to be making strange noises.
I just ordered the ACDelco 506-901 OE front struts on Amazon, they will be here on wednesday but I can't install them I will take them to a shop. $110 shipped.
I'm not sure if I need rear struts or not so I'm not ordering those yet.

Changed my mind, just ordered rear shocks too. ACDelco 560-622 pair for $107 shipped on Amazon.
Also I looked under the car and noticed that one of the rear spring rubber bumper things was broken. It is GM p/n 20838485.

Re: What the difference between these two OEM Struts?

Just drove around to visit a few non-dealer repair shops for estimates. I was quoted from $400 to $650 just for labor to replace the front and rear shocks.

One place told me there is a rear suspension air compressor that often fails at high mileage and they would need to test that. I had no idea there was an air compressor in the rear suspension. So now I am researching that part and what it does... I wonder if I can locate it and apply 12V to it and see if it pumps air into something??

Also I was told to not be too surprised if other parts like (strut mounts for example) might need replacing.

Unfortunately I don't know a lot about suspensions so I am trying to study up on it before going in to the shop.
