Power Steering lost after front end collision at low speed
I had a low speed (<5mph) fender bender yesterday and leaked fluid from the front passenger side of the vehicle (right behind bumper). Looks like tubes are coming into a radiator/cooler in the front of the van. Leak is either coming from tubes or connection to the radiator/cooler. Fluid is gold in color, smells like oil. Lost about a 1/2 quart right away. I immediately lost power steering.
Trying to determine if what leaked was the power steering fluid and if I can drive the vehicle 4 hours home - don't want to burn up the pump. Also if there are any quick fixes for the tube, metal tape etc. if I find a crack or if the male to female connection into the radiator/cooler with the tube is the issue. I have not checked the power steering fluid yet.
Called Onstar and they could not patch me to a dealer for help because it was 7:15 CST on Sat. nght.
