It's still a voltmeter with a low limit alarm. I don't need a buzzer telling me my battery is dead. If you observe the meter on the dash you would indeed know when the battery voltage is getting low. Clave Man didn't get any value from this gizmo it if it died only after a few months.
What is truly needed is an amp meter that measures the rate the current is drawn from the battery when the engine is off. The amount of current drawn by the clock and standby power of the electronics should be in the order of a tens of milliamps. This would not collapse the voltage on the battery to the point the car wont start in a few days. For example leaving a 12W lamp on will draw one amp (1000 milliamps) from the battery at 12V. This would drain the battery in a few days. A volt meter or the gizmo will not detect if the current draw in 10 milliamps or one amp. They will only show the voltage going lower after the charge in the battery is consumed more and more. If I had a mysterious battery problem I would connect a amp meter in series with the battery then start pulling fuses on each circuit till I find what's draining the battery.

thanks for that information, I to had a cadillac that had problems killing batteries, mine was due to software glitch in onstar that kept running and would run down the battery, and if I left the car alone for a week it would be dead when I came back, so I purchased a solar charger it helped keep the battery topped off even after the problem was fixed.

Wow, nice to see I'm not the only one.
My 08 was great for the first year, then recently I had water leaking through sunroof, got that fixed, then the strip molding on the top was peeling up, got that fixed, now my battery has died twice from just sitting, most recently after 3 days of sitting and was dead yesterday morning.
Due to this issue I've bought a battery jumper and a slow drip type recharger. Fixes it but as much as I LOVE my Enclave (and I DO LOVE IT) I've never had a vehicle with so many little issues within the first year. I'm beginning to get worried for what I may have down the road. Just a concern as I'm also starting to notice the GPS unit go dead sometimes. GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!
I've bought cheapo cars without any problems. I'm just not used to this.
