I have noticed that my Buick dealer always indicates a 5,000 mile oil change interval for my synthetic oil filled Enclave. The independent shop that I use for my synthetic oil filled Tribeca indicates 3,000 miles on the windshield sticker each time. A 5,000 mile oil change interval seems much more appropriate for synthetic oil filled vehicles as a minimum drain interval. I find it interesting that the Buick dealer is prescribing a longer drain interval than the independent shop, perhaps because the dealer generates billable services in more ways that the independent shop can.

What has been your experience regarding the indication on the windshield mounted oil change recommendation sticker for your lambda? You can vote more than once if you've experienced more than one indication for your vehicle.

My mechanic Ted indicates 3,000 miles or 3 months.  I noticed that Reichard Buick put 5,000 miles and due back Feb 11, 2011.  which is 3 months from the last time I was there.  Guess they think I put on a lot of miles...LOL!!

An app called Gas Cubby... You can track any type of maintenance, fill-ups, registration details, tag numbers, etc., on as many vehicles as you own...

Been using for a couple years & I'm satisfied...

 Huh?

LOL okay I get it...Steve at Reichard already knows I have a good independent mechanic and if it were not for the warranty work or the free oil changes, which I finally received last week, would not travel the 30 minutes versus the 5 minutes to get work done on the Outlook.

I use a quick-lube, and their house PC defaults to printing a 3,000 miles interval regardless of the type of oil used (though I change at 6-7K miles).

I use the Info center and OnStar notification about oil change.  I do use synthetic oil, so I'm not all that concerned about exact mileage.

5,000. I don't know if it's synthetic or not though. I guess I should ask.

Synthetic oil is an upgrade with a higher charge for materials, and is not the default oil selected for an oil change. Most likely, you are getting the service department's well oil, which would be a conventional (dino) oil.

As an engineer, Synthetics are made for a min 5,000miles. If you change the filter after 5,000miles, good for 10,000miles. If service garage indicates less, they want to make a few extra dollars.
