Depending upon the type of roads you drive on, it could be 15 - 30K miles.  If you drive on dirt or dusty roads, 15K may be your best interval.  If you drive mostly in the city or highway, you can get away with 30K miles.  Some folks don't change them at all until the air gets "stinky".

There were other threads on this, which concluded the Enclave does not have a cabin air filter. I asked my dealer to check, and they confirmed that my '09 does not have one. Does anyone know otherwise?

Interesting...I assumed that our vehicle has one but you may be correct in that they do not.  They are typically found behind the glove box but I have never checked Huh?

early lambdas had the cabin filters...
08's or so.

Later model lambdas-- had the cabin filter feature removed.
theres a thread on the Acadia forum- where they have pics of the location of the filter...
theres also pics of the location on the newer models where there is no longer a filter location ... actually I think they made  the box-non accessible- you cant open it anymore to place a filter... something like that

After owning no fewer than 5 vehicles so equipped.....and many others (including the 'Clave) without.....I've honestly never seen any evidence that a cabin filter has made a recognizable improvement in my ownership experience.  And, in light of the comparatively expensive replacement cost of many of these filters, I myself am not the least bit upset my Enclave doesn't have one.

The cabin air filter was a marketing scheme to solve another problem.

On cars with automatic air (where you set the temp and the tempature is maintained by the system)   all incoming air goes through the A/C evaporator.      Because it is often damp from condensation,  dirt, hair, lint,  etc sticks to it.    Depending on the conditions where you drive and if you have animals (cats) that climb on your car,   this "stuff" collects on the evaporator and forms a nice mat that restricts the airflow.

The cabin air filter catches this "stuff" before the evaporator and solves an airflow problem.

Don't know what year  Es had a filter or not.  My 2011 CXL1  according to the owners manual has one. I did not check to see if a filter was actually there or not.  Manual reads the glove box must be removed to get at it??

Our early build '08 Enclave did have an accessible door behind the glovebox with a slide-out tray and mesh "screen" that would catch leaves and other debris....but no filter.  I clean it out periodically.  My late build '08 Acadia has no access.  As far as I know, they never put a filter in there.

The 2011 Enclave has a cabin air filter.  The 2010 and 2009 (like mine) do not.

Hi. Just checked in to say Happy New Year and saw this thread.  I did a lot of original research on this filter  when I first got my Enclave.  Here are the pix/details  of what I found (page 3 of my album)            http://www.enclaveforum.net/index.php?action=gallery&g2_itemId=2469&g2_page=3

There is also a thread with much detail on this, from 2008.  I posted the GM part number for this "door" and others contributed much data also.  I recall the screen/door costing about $30 from GM Dealer. But it was only the screen shown in my pix, so he took it back.    Here is the link:

 http://www.enclaveforum.net/index.php?topic=463.msg5758

Basically, it seems they changed the "door" slide-out tray in late '08 -forward. Some said no "door", slide-out tray was installed on these later models at all, or it had screws holding it in.   Mine just had squeeze clips.   Mine filtered great after I installed a basic piece of A/C filter type clothe, that I cut to size.  Caught a lot of pollen/junk whenever  I changed it!  (5-10K miles in warmer months.)

My new Caddy SRX is due for a look about now too.  Hope I can find it... LOL

Good luck and see ya around.  Miss my Enclave.  Miss yas all !

Anybody with a 2011 Enclave want to remove their filter and measure it to see if the people with 2007 and early 08's can use the filter? Pictures would be great also as to how the filter mounts in the vehicle.

My '08 was built toward the end of 09/07. I will take a look behind the glovebox to see what my Enclave's filter situation is. Huh?

Yes, this is interesting news. Regarding the '07/'08s, I was under the impression that they did NOT have cabin air filters based on some posts in this topic a few years ago. Things change, and maybe I misunderstood the claims from those old posts. shrug

Well armed with my brightest torch and tools I set forth today to investigate the cabin filter saga.

After removing the glove box and peering in at every angle , reflecting the sides on a mirror and running my fingers round the molding I have come to the conclusion that the unit has no access to what looks like the filter housing. It would appear that the srews are to hold the unit together.

So the only way I can see round this is to Dremel the shape on the front out and then fabricate a door from plastic or aluminum. I would think that a frame in aluminum would be able to hold some fibreglass or metal screen material and act as the support for the filter mat.

If anyone has a service manual that shows the inner working of this area it would be good to see , I wouldn't want to cut out an area and not be able to vacuum all the cutting out.

Do we have any contacts at GM to express the level of disapointment that is felt regards this basic omission. I would have preferred filtration and it never crossed my mind that it didn't have it.

I am fortunate that I don't live in Florida, or any of the southern states during pollen season, traveling back in April from Florida is plenty green car for me.
