Hi Gang

hoping someone can help me with this. My left rear turn signal / brake light is out. Not too impressed with that on an 18 month old vehicle. I read the manual and I think I misunderstood it. Can you change this on your own ? Anyone done it?

When mine went out a couple of months ago I took it to the dealer.  I actually had to leave it there as they said it takes a bit of time.  In any event, it was covered by warranty, so I'd just take it to your dealer and get them to do it for you.

sklunk.....I just replaced mine yesterday using the same instructions as your posted link. Pretty simple job & should only take a few minutes. By the way the bulb is a 7443 if you want to get one before you remove the assembly. At O'Rielys they come in a package of two..

I agree.  I used info from the forum to change a turn/brake light last week. I bought the 7443 bulb first -- it's the one with two filaments and two wattage ratings.  Someone said he used a 7mm hex driver to remove the two bolts, but I used a 9/16 socket.  Having the bulb and tools handy made it a 5 minute job.

Ottawan,
You are able to do this yourself with the bulb that the other members have stated the 7443. You are also able to take it into your dealership and it would be covered under your warranty. If you do have any further questions please feel free to message me.
Thank you,

Had to change the bulb in mine a couple of months ago.   It was the rear passenger side.   I have a 2009 and the manual gave the incorrect bulb number however the instructions were correct.  This instructions show a bulb of 3157 on page 5-35.  After purchasing had to go back and have them look it up.

Getting to the body-mounted part of the taillight housing is relatively easy... 2 or 3 machine screws if I recall.  Getting to te tailgate mounted part looks puzzling  Huh?  special tools and popping those inner liner clips?  Bulb changing should be something easy for the average owner.

funny-- post- on the way home- my blinker was normal for 3 flashes- then went to hyper mode- flashing very quickly.
I knew what that meant.
I changed it out.
Pretty easy.... Im guessing the process is pretty similar to the Traverse.
Some pics....

9/32 socket.

By the way, hss anyone tried LED bulbs here?  (Sorry for drifting 'off topic' on this but I think it's at least partially relevant since some bulb changing can be a real pain.)

It was discussed in some other threads but I don't think anyone has tried it yet.  I would LOVE to try it but can't see spending a couple hundred dollars on bulbs (I would want to do the stop/brake lights, reverse lights, and front signals as well).

If anyone would like to pay for the bulbs and have them shipped to me I would gladly use my vehicle as a guinea pig and document the whole process  Grin ...

I had a headlight on the 07 Outlook out and they changed it without charge.  Although perhaps because the bulb was broken inside the assembly and well how in the heck did that happen?

wait but then I want to know is it difficult to change the turning signals on the front of the car for the lambda triplets because I notice that the traverse is placed on the bumper and I know that changing those bulbs on the first gen SRX is a big pain in the a**

easy to get to. (I can change my headlamp bulbs in about 15min total for both)..
the turn signals- probably in half the time.

But its about 4 screws \
2 at the bottom.

2 for part of the liner- note the sideways view...

and pull back liner..

and I see this...
(I stuck the camera in the opening- but when you turn the wheel you have a little more access.. Enough to stick your hand in there and turn reach the bulbs)
pass side

drivers side

only 4 screws.
2 on bottom (by the air dam) and 2 on the wheel well that I removed to have enough access to inside the liner
