Waxing the chip-resistant bottom

Hi Guys

Got a question for the current owners of the Enclave. Couple of weeks ago I was in a thread discussion about cleaning and waxing and mostly about the tire foam. I did find the Meguiar's brand of all these items, at Winn Dixie of all places! Got them and tried them. As Promised the result was fantastic.

On the container of Meguiar's Tech wax it said liquid goes on easy, easy off with no powdery residue and leaves a deep wet-look shine.
This is all true. It also says KEEP OFF RUBBER, CLOTH, VINYL AND NON-PAINTED SURFACES. Even though the chip resistant bottom
looks painted and dosen't look plastic, it still appears to be some form of plastic but I'm not sure if it's surface painted.

My question is, Have any of you put any wax on the chip-resistant bottom? If so, how well did it work? I chose to continue to clean this area often and not wax it yet. Still looks great but will need to do more later I'm sure. What are your opinions?
Thanks
Baugham

Baugham, I just wash that area of the car. I use Meguiar Tech Wax too (really fantastic stuff!) and have gotten it on the gray plastic. It really didn't make a difference.

I tried Meguiar's Exterior Trim Detailer Coating on it last time. It added a nice sheen and supposedly protects the area as well.

Hope this helps,

Greg

Hmmm, must be a guy thing, I don't wash my own car! I take it to one of those nice places where I look at greeting cards and drink a soda while they clean my car! ;)
:ditto:

Nope, must be a subset of guys. I am not into washing and detailing my own cars. I hate it. Waaaaay too tedious for my short attention span.

It is not a guy thing to clean your own vehicles, but this guy could not afford to have it done to my standards. Besides, I wash my 3 vehicles almost every week and wax each of them 5-6 times a year (with the Meguiar's tech wax)!!!! :thumb:

Thanks Guys for all the responce. Hadn't tried the Tech Wax until this pass weekend and was nervous about the chip-resistant bottom. Guess I'm ready to go at it again. (muddy again)

Things are really strange since I bought the Enclave. Until then we were in a serve drought and half the state was on fire! Only had the Enclave four weeks now and have wash it three times. The first time I washed it, a tropical storm came through here and since I washed it on Sunday it has rained every single day!

What gives? Must be something I'm doing wrong!!

Hey, where is Hilliard? I grew up in FL and never heard of it! You're right about the change in weather, it happened all of a sudden, I wondered why but now I realize it was when you got your Enclave! Thanks for making our yard green again! ;)
