Trailer package from dealer

Is the trailering package a factory only thing or can it be dealer installed?
I paid $750 to have trailer packaged added but the more I think about it the more I feel I got taken as the they are just giving me a hitch and not the cooler that comes with the package.

It can be added but it's a lot of work and to have it done to the full factory tow package by a dealer would be a LOT of $$$.

You need to swap to the HD radiator for the extra trans cooling, rear wiring harness, install the tow haul button and surround and change out the fuse block to the V92 version (and add the hitch). There's a couple threads on the Acadia forums of guy's doing it.

Just slapping on the hitch you're limited to 2k lbs towing. One plus, when you plug in the tow/haul button the computer recognizes it and you get the remapped shift points and 6 flash blinker without needing to change or program the ECU.

EDIT: Warranty wise, even if you install every piece of the factory tow package making your Enclave just as capable as a factory tow package Enclave, GM is still going to going to deny your powertrain warranty if they can prove you were towing more than 2k.

If the dealer is only installing a hitch,, then no.
If they claim you can tow- 5000 lbs and still remain under warranty-- have them put it in writing.

Is this a Gen 1?

Gen1- tow package was indeed a bargain at $525.
hitch, wiring, HD radiator.

I seriously doubt the dealer is giving you the entire V92 package for $750. At the rates dealerships charge there's more than $750 in labor before you even start buying the parts.

And what he said about getting the tow rating in writing. GM won't honor it but the dealer will have to.

If it was me I wouldn't tow more than 2k without the HD radiator and tow haul button that changes the shift points and torque converter lockup.

when I told them I was going to tow 4500 pounds they escalated it around and finally said you can't do that and told me they were just installing a factor hitch and harness. Said they did not understand my question and took $100 of the price.
I don't have an immediate need to tow anything and just wanted the hitch for a bike carrier but this is example of why car sales people get bad reputation.
Might have been an honest mistake but I should not know more about the product they are selling than they do
