Android auto on 2016+?

Can't seem to find a straightforward answer on this one. I was wondering if it was possible to get Android Auto in a 2016+ Enclave.

I have searched a bunch and it seems that if you have the right HU you should be able to get the dealer to just flash the update to the intellilink and boom, android auto (at least for maybe the traverse I think?). But it's not listed on the official site and I cannot seem to find if that is the case with the Enclave or not. We are looking to buy one soon so I would like to make it a condition upon sale to flash it if possible.

I’m almost positive there’s no OEM support for Android Auto or Apple CarPlay unless you’re buying a 2nd gen (2018+). You have to remember when the first gen retired as a 2017 that was an OLD platform. That’s why it never got things like push button start either.

You'll need to swap out the hardware

I've seen these things advertised https://www.navtool.com/buick-enclav...e-carplay.aspx but they're not official GM so I'm a little wary of the quality, has anyone tried this before?

I have a 2015 Enclave and it's awesome, but the infotainment is really outdated. Has anyone replaced their radio with a third party one with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (Sony, Pioneer, Kenwood, etc.)? What was your experience?
Did the steering wheel controls still work?
Did the reverse camera still work?
Did it fit nicely with the trim (rounded corners) ?

Thanks!

This is not my area of expertise. I've seen a significant decline in aftermarket radios with the introduction of CAN. Just looking at the factory wiring diagram, the radio appears to be central to several functions.

For example, the steering wheel controls communicate to the BCM that communicates to the radio module. It is highly unlikely that the BCM will communicate with a non-factory radio.
I also see the following other modules connected to or communicating with the OE radio module, if equipped:
XM Radio
Navigation antenna
Electronic Brake Control Module
Telematics Communication Interface Control Module (OnStar)
Auxiliary Radio Control Module (backseat audio)
Auxiliary HVAC Control Module (backseat HVAC)
RSE Module (rear seat entertainment... DVD)

All this being said, I could expect to see several communications DTC's in a car with a module missing / not responding.

I had Best buy put a Kenwood unit in my 2008 Lucerne, they had to bring a USB port to the front of the dash. It was integrated with OnStar.

I loved it.I bought the Kenwood unit, a xm interface, the Maestro interface and harness. I think the Masetro gave better integration on that year.

I traded that car in on my 2018 Avenir
