  1. Car And Driver does not like the 2019 Enclave

    Buick Enclave
I don't trust car magazines for making car buying decisions. Some of what they said was true, however. I did step into a new Enclave at the car show and I prefer the interior of my Gen 1 2009 Enclave. I mean like the other guy said, I wouldn't trade my Enclave for a new one. Add all the...
  2. We’re back in an Enclave!

    Buick Enclave
I'm happy for you, and hopefully your Enclave gives you many years of great service. I still have my 09 Enclave and love driving it, but in reality it has been a real money pit due to GM's use of the cheapest parts they can and poor design on some (but not all) systems. These are excellent...
  3. 2018 Avenir reliabilty issue with no permanent fix per GM

    Buick Enclave
This is a scary problem. The dealer should be talking to GM corporate on fixing this ASAP before anyone gets hurt.
  4. Goodbye, Farewell and Amen

    Buick Enclave
I always bought GM and was planning to buy an Acadia. My wife and I liked it for being smaller and more maneuverable while still offering good space. But the $4500 transmission repair changed that so we went with Toyota for our next vehicle. I still have the Enclave but cringe thinking about...
  5. Follow-up on My 2009 Buick Enclave

    Buick Enclave
These vehicles are expensive to maintain without a warranty, and I have first hand experience. Every car has issues, but my 09 Enclave has been especially troublesome costing me thousands to keep running. I wouldn't touch a new Enclave with what I had to go thru with the one I currently have.
  6. New 2019 Enclave with rusty stuff

    General Tech
I think it's really minor rust and wouldn't worry about it.
  7. Buick Enclave / questions about purchasing

    Buick Enclave
Do your research is all I can say. I do like my 2009 Enclave, but I have to admit it has been a money pit with major issues I just never had with the other vehicles I've owned. They're nice vehicles when they work, but when they break (and you don't have an extended warranty), your wallet will...
  8. Goodbye, Farewell and Amen

    Buick Enclave
These vehicles can be expensive to maintain - ask me how I know. My dealer quoted me $1200 just to replace struts and shocks, no other parts. For about $1000 or a little less I purchased Bilstein OEM struts/shocks, all new OEM strut bearings, bushings, etc. (only reused front springs), front...
  9. 2014 Factory Trailering & struts

    Towing & Hauling
I used Bilstein B4 OEM replacement struts. Very high quality and made in Germany. Much better than the made in Korea GM OEMs.
  10. 2009 Enclave 85,000 Miles - Prep for New Family Member Owner

    Buick Enclave
If you get AC Delco, make sure it's OEM AC Delco, not cheap China-special AC Delco from Amazon. I used these and they failed at 25K miles. The OEM AC Delco ones were Bosch made in Slovakia.
  11. Thinking of buying a 2016/17 Enclave

    Buying, Leasing & Custom Ordering
I'd stick with the latest Enclave model year of the first body style - so '16 or '17. I would think that by then most of the main issues have been worked out with the first generation. My 2009 Enclave has been a nightmare to own and has costed me thousands to keep running - I've had far more...
  12. Strut Ripoff

    Brakes, Suspension, Wheels & Tires
No - you don't need to replace the springs. I just did my struts back in early January, and I used Bilstein B4 OEM struts. I replaced everything thing else (strut mount, bearing, rubber insulators, etc.) but kept the spring. My front sway bar bushings and end links were shot like my struts...
  13. Another GM Victim of Porosity

    Engine & Drivetrain
Regarding the coils, the factory ACDelco OEM are different than the regular "made in China" ones. That mistake cost me $1800 as I took my car to the dealer since it happened while going to work and I needed to get the car fixed. I got ripped off big time, but there was nothing I could do as...
  14. Should I buy an Enclave?

    Buick Enclave
GM should have NEVER used such a cheap part to begin with. It's stupid things like this that can cause these transmissions to fail on owners at the wrong time, increasing the likelihood of crashes and people getting hurt, all for some executive to get a bigger bonus thru all the cost savings...
  15. Another GM Victim of Porosity

    Engine & Drivetrain
I hope it all works out for you. Looks like the dealer may have wanted a $4,000 payday. Plugs and coils are really easy to do on this engine, even if you have to take off the intake manifold. No need to pay a dealer. One other thing that causes misfires are the coils. I learned to only buy...
