I want to do my own transmission drain do i have to keep the car running while old fluid drains? Also is there a filter that needs to be change when i do the drain?

Dont know the specifics on the lacrosse,
But since its mated to the 3.6. its tranmission may be very similar to the Enclaves.
THough you may not have a dipstick.


These transmissions hold about 11 qts.
If you remove the drain bolt- only about 5.5 qts drain out. the rest remains in the lines/tq converter.
You can drain/refill. Drive. and repeat in several hundred miles. You can do this several times.
also, there is a filter in these transmission- but it is deep within the trans. The only time it is changed is when the transmission is literally removed- and taken apart.
Thats why I prefer to keep the fluid clean. by doing drain/refills. Fluid remain clean and fresh.
