Okay guys my wife and I are thinking of purchasing a 2018 and wanted to know the good, the bad, and the ugly aspects of this vehicle. Thank you in advance!!
16k miles on mine so far and mostly good. The ride and the quietness are excellent. Sound system and Infotainment system are very good. The 9 speed transmission makes it very quick off the line. The manual sunshade is probably the worst feature, followed by non-automatic wipers, Some of our members don't like the stop/start feature, but I don't mind it. Would I buy it again? Sure.
9,000 miles on our 2019 and we still really enjoy it. No problems so far except for a broken sunshade bracket.
Very nice ride, lots of safety and tech features, the most passenger and cargo space compared to other CUVs in this class, infotainment system works very well, average to good gas mileage, strong engine, and the AWD system which is driver selectable and can send all power/torque to just one wheel is awesome. Many other CUVs which claim to have AWD just modulate the braking and can only send power to the wheels that are slipping, which does you no good, but even with no traction on three wheels the Enclave system can still get the vehicle moving. Here's one example:
The transmission is not as smooth as I expected. Not bad by any means, I just wasn't used to a 9-speed which tends to shift around more often. I don't find the seats to be very comfortable on longer trips, there are some non-luxury materials and some missing luxury features like a light in the glove box, the sunshades are a joke, the ergonomics of the gear selector could have been better, and I'm one of the owners who despises the stop/start with no disable option. You can simply disconnect the hood latch sensor or install a module to turn it off, but they should have just included a disable button.
The negatives are fairly minor though and overall our Avenir has been great.
LJS, I should have mentioned that the stop/start can be temporarily disabled by shifting into Low range and paddling all the way up to 9. it will shift normally and not shut off until you shut it off. You would have to do this every time you start the engine if it really bothers you.
I've had my Enclave Premium for two months, but I bought it used, 2018 model. So far very pleased with the car, especially with the way it drives and handles. Suspension is a little stiff on speed bumps and uneven roads (I have 20 inch wheels). The sound of my 10 speaker Bose system is a little muffled. Compared the way the same songs play on my brother's audio in his Grand Caravan Crew Edition. Dodge sounds better.
But in general love this car. It seems, it even beats Cadillac XT6 by its design and space for passengers and cargo. Like its sophisticated AWD system designed by GKN, with three clutches and force vectoring. The engine and the 9-speed transmission are very well paired and work smoothly. The car is very dynamic and brisk for its two tons of weight.
yuvoront, glad you are enjoying your Enclave. I have just over 18k miles and am still loving it. I have gotten past the few sore spots and enjoy driving this smooth and quiet SUV. So far, no mechanical issues at all.
Have you bought your 2018 yet? my cousin has had one for 5 months now, purchased used but with very low mileage and he's been quite happy with it so far.. nice'n'smooth as he describes it))
