As we have speculated, GM was surprised by the strong demand for the Enclave, and the Buick will be assigned a higher percentage of total Lambda production at the current assembly plant.

So that probably means 50% for GMC, 40% for Buick, and 10% for Saturn.
yea, i think this is the biggest surprise to gm since air conditioning was introduced for cars.
Now if GM would have only figured this out about 30 years ago. Hmmm...do some R&D...spend some money upfront when designing the vehicle...and maybe...just maybe, people will buy it and won't consider it crap.

Case in point...Cadillac Cimarron...it was a Cadillac...GMs luxury version...but the car was a rebadge of a Chevy Caviler...but for the price of a Cadillac. You just have to wonder what the **** GM was thinking.
Fenwah, there's no doubt that GM made some remarkably stupid product decisions back in the late 1970's and 1980's. During that time, I was dumbfounded by the company's product planning, and could not believe the manner in which the company was handing over its market share on a platter. There's no doubt that GM continues to pay a high price for its missteps, and analysts have long wondered whether the company would someday muster its formidable resources and re-engage the marketplace.

Mercifully, the company appears to be awakening from its thirty year slumber, and the product renaissance is in full swing. The Lambda crossovers are a big part of the picture. And Bob Lutz is saying the right things; never again will we see, for example, a Buick that is a re-badge of a Chevrolet product. During its heyday, Buick literally dominated the upper medium price marketplace with bold and stunning designs and a reputation for high quality. Let's hope that the Enclave is predictive of Buick's return to greatness.

Centurion,
Thanks for the Wards link, but I can not read it without a paid subscription.
My dealer foresees a real problem with supply, has sold more than he has allocated to him.
fenwah, is that drew carey as your icon :eek:fftopic:

now back to topic.... i just spoke w/a gm buick representative and they said they are having so many production delays because buick didnt expect this big of a response for the enclave. i think the enclave is gonna outsale both the acadia and the outlook.

I am not a paid subscriber either, so I have seen only that portion of the article that you have. Perhaps someone here will have a subscription.

I believe that the higher allocation of production resources to the Enclave will help with the supply problem that your dealer mentioned.
When I spoke to my dealer this morning, of the 8 he had last week, all are sold except the one on the showroom floor, and his demo. He does not want to let them go until he gets more in. As a long time Buick buyer(25 years) I am thrilled to see Buick having a "hot" vehicle in their line up, just glad I got mine early. :thumb:

My husband will be disappointed. He always looks over my shoulder and pays lots of attention to fenwah's posts. ;)

I had to think about that for a second, but now I get it. >:D
I picked up my Enclave tonight and had a good talk with the salesman who has sold me 4 cars over the years. He is so desperate for Enclaves that he bought 2 from a Florida dealer.....but there was a catch, he also had to take 9 LaCrosses that the FL dealer was not moving.
However, he will sell them all without a problem.
Cadillac Cimarron... is that the 'Caddy that zigs'? Or was that the Catera, a rebadged Opel of all things. Anyone remember the 'Caddy that zigs' slogan? Cadillac had a duck mascot for awhile.
LOL.... my nephew who is 25 thinks the lacrosses and lucernes are nice rides.
I think the Caddy that zigs was the Catera.
