I'm looking to decide on the rear seat option. Does anyone have any pics of the 2'nd row bench seat option??

Before you get serious about the 2nd row bench, find an Acadia or Outlook with one and do the derriere test. We were going to order the bench until we sat on one in an Acadia - the center seating position is very uncomfortable and usable for emergency seating only IMO. In addition, the captains chairs are significantly more comfortable than the outboard seating positions on the bench, again IMO.

I AGREE, THAT MIDDLE SEAT IS ONLY USEFUL FOR A CAR SEAT WHICH THEN MAKES THE OUTSIDE SEATS EVEN MORE UNCOMFORTABLE. I ALSO ENJOY THE AIRINESS OF THE CAPTAINS CHAIRS IN THE CUV. THE BENCH SEAT REMINDS ME TOO MUCH OF A CAR AND CAUSES ME TO LITERALLY FEEL CLAUSTIPHOBIC (IMO). TOO MANY PEOPLE AND JUST TOO MUCH GOING ON LOL.

Our Enclave (which according to the dealer is built and being shipped as I write,) was ordered with the bench. You're aware that it's a -$495 option? The question for us is: does the bench have a fold down armrest as the Acadia and Outlook benches have? The answer is cryptically in the "Details" brochure my dealer gave me. It mentions "...two extra cupholders in the bench seat armrest...."

Not a biggie but maybe this adds to the information out there.

Jay - I'd be shocked if it didn't. In almost every other respect, the lambdas are identical, so I think it's safe to assume it will have a VERY similarly designed center armrest.

My Enclave has a rear bench. I was shocked when I discovered that it does NOT have a center fold down armrest. I am not sure why this is. I wonder if it will come out on the later models.
Kenclave,
Are you talking about the 3rd bench seat? Your recently added pictures show the 2nd captains seats.

That settled, based upon my experience sitting in an Acadia with a second row bench, the term "armrest" should be interpreted loosely. When deployed, the armrest is really too low to function as such, so it's really just a couple of fold down cupholders.

Bench seat option??

I'm still trying to decide between bench & captain chairs. Does the bench seat recline like the captain chairs do ?

Middle seat on second row bench is extremely uncomfortable. I was going to order the bench but decided against it because of its extra firm feel. My 2002 Mountaineer bench is much more comfortable. Hope this helps. Still waiting on my September 7 seat order.

i personally think the bench seat makes the interior look tooooo small in the enclave acadia and outlook.
i would say unless you HAVE to have 8 seats then just get the captains

We have the second row bench and love it, also had it in our Rendezvous. It's all a matter of preference. We might have considered the captains chairs if the second row console had been availiable. The second row bench does recline.

We chose the bench seat because we have a large family (4 teenagers and one grandparent) and like to travel to cruises so that makes for a lot of luggage. We also have two cello players in among the teens, so if we can squeeze another teen into the second row, that much the better.

But my preference would be the captain's chairs if not for the above since they do look more comfortable and I can put stuff in between them like an electric cooler and such. The extra discount when ordering the bench also helps the bottom line.

We have 3 kids and we got the captain's chairs.

1. No way did we want all three kids sitting next to each other and fighting
2. It can feel pretty claustrophobic sitting in the third row when the 2nd row is a bench. You feel locked in.

I went to the Saturn dealership to check out the middle bench (GMC/Buick dealer wouldn't think of ordering one for stock). Not comfortable, and it DID NOT RECLINE (or we couldn't make it do so). It did have a so-so cupholding armrest.

Does each side of the 60/40 bench recline as expected - that is, by manipulating the handle that activates "smart-slide"?

If you have eight passengers, you need eight seats. But if you don't, the only other advantage I see to the bench is the complete flat surface when you are in "full cargo" mode.
