We got our cocoa Enclave about 3 weeks ago and love it! We recently took a roadtrip up to NYC from DC and noticed something that might be a factory defect or overlook. Has anyone noticed that the 3rd row speakers only play the "instrumental" part of a movie? We were watching a kids' movie and noticed that the 3rd row passengers could barely hear the main characters/actors talking in the movie. The only thing we could hear was the music, clapping, shouting, etc. but not the voices of the main characters when they were talking. The 1st and 2nd row passengers could hear it just fine. We actually had to ask the front row to turn up the volume so we could get it from the 1st and 2nd row speakers. Has anyone noticed this? Or tested it in their Enclave?

Let me know.

That is pretty typical for any 5.1 digital surround sound system. With 5.1 the speech/dialoge comes out of the front center channel. With the Enclave the front center channel is at the front of the vehicle.

In the "audio" options tab of the NAV screen (or by using the remote) you can change the audio signal from Dolby Digital 5.1 to plain old Dolby Stereo and this will solve the issue. The 3rd row speakers are your "rear surround" speakers in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround which the player defaults to.

5.1 dolby surround is pretty dumb for a vehicle since the front speakers are in front of the driver, which isn't even in view of the screen JMHO

I think the solution is for GM to add a sensor under the third row. If someone is sitting there, take the stere out of Dolby Digital 5.1. Problem solved..
