Zman - How is the ride, fit and finish of the Enclave compared to Acadia? Could you please post your expirence. Is the rear visiblity better than Acadia?
Also since the engine/transmission is same as Acaida did they have to do any of those Acadia recalls for Airbag, tranny, seats etc?
I am not sure I can compare the Enclave to the Acadia since I drove the Acadia about a month ago. But I can tell you that I am extremely impressed with the build quality of the vehicle. I have not gone through it with a fine toothed comb yet to check panel gaps, etc, but everything looks fabulous as far as I can tell.
I think it rides and handles great. It is very quiet and comfortable. No rattles or squeaks. I love the wood steering wheel. Keep in mind that I am comparing it to a Ford Expedition and Subaru Outback however.
I could not be more happy at this point. My only gripes are that the FM reception seems to be a bit poor and that the side mirror tilt during reverse is a little too much/low IMHO. I have had some radio stations get some static/interference and I am not sure I have ever had that with FM stations in the Minneapolis metro area before. I need to program some XM stations maybe.
I can only guess on rear visibility. To me the rear window seems actually slightly smaller on the Enclave than the Acadia. I don't know if it is or not. I don't imagine that the rear visibility is any better on the Enclave due to this impression. I have only backed up a couple of times and I have not seemed to have any issues, but I also have not been in a store parking lot yet so maybe my opinions will change over time.
I am not sure any of the recalls apply to the Enclave. I was under the impression that all of those updates were implemented prior to my build date of two weeks ago, but I never thought to explicitly ask. Maybe Enclave8j* can comment on this?
The tranny seems to shift fine to me. I do notice that it is very inclined to upshift very early but I would not call the behavior to be any type of hesitation. It is just very predisposed to maximize fuel economy.
In summary, I have never been so stoked about a new vehicle. I know it is only 24 hours but I am feeling ever better about our decision to go with the Lambda's, particularly the Enclave.
