Hi guy took my Enclave into the dealership have the rear brakes done they told me my rear shock covers are Broken and Falling Apart does that justify replacing rear shocks on the SUV rides smooth no bouncing in rear end of the enclave. The shocks don't leak oil just the dust cover came off. I am asking can, I still run with shocks that way without any problems.

Is there a difference in the rear shocks used with the factory towing package.

I can only seem to find one rear shock for the back.

Is there a recommended heavy duty one ?

not sure what the differences are.

when I looked up mine- 2 #s came up (for ACDELCO).
yet- when the dealer parts guy ran my VIN- it came up with a 3rd ACDELCO #... witch I think is the OEM original # that came on the vehicle- and thats what I went with. (I have the tow package).

Jerseydevil said---------I paid $43 each for new OEM AC Delcos on ebay.

my reply was-------------------

yup---
those are the 560-572 and 560-573s.

The ones I got are 560-633....

Whats the difference? I dont know.
Maybe the latest part with improved performance?
thus the higher # 633. Huh?

But thats the part # that came up when he used my VIN to search for replacement part.

Update- looked up that part # on the ACDELCO web site
560-633 shows up as
ACDELCO GM original Equipment for Traverse model years 2009,2010,2011,2012.

I did look at the back shocks today took the wheels off they look easy to replaced dealership wants $454.00 replace them might just do them myself in my garage parts are only $50.00 for two rear shocks on eBay. I might just replace the shocks once they start leaking oil right now they work fine for me.

I think shocks can be practically useless-- and not have a leak.

the way I see it--- is-- shocks can get weak-- and eventually do not dampen enough..

what comes----

accelerated tire wear
accelerated suspension wear.
vibrations into cabin--which lead to stuff starting to squeak a little more.....

2 shocks--- for $50.... just change them....

I was going to do it myself but firestone offered me a good deal on there Lifetime warranty on the shocks for $306.00 and getting there Lifetime wheel Alignment too. The enclave shocks are worn out can feel it now so going to have them replaced.
