Dese the Enclave coem with cabin filter? What are the advantages and disadvantages? :help: :help: :help:
I don't know of one, however if you carefully lower the glove compartment and remove the thumb screws you can get to the ventilation system. There is some sort of door there that looks like it could be for a cabin air filter. I'm waiting for Helm Inc. to release the Enclave service manual to find out what that is.enclavelover said:Dese the Enclave coem with cabin filter? If you find info about a cabin filter for the Enclave, could you post the info?monstersinc1 said:I don't know of one, however if you carefully lower the glove compartment and remove the thumb screws you can get to the ventilation system. Is this cabin filter supposed to filter out pollen and such?techno said:Found out there is a cabin filter and it's accessible from inside the engine compartment on the passenger side by the firewall. It isn't that easy to get to.
If it is anything like the ones in my old Tahoe, they will get filthy quickly. I changed mine about every year and they were so packed I was amazed there was still airflow!jbradfor said:Is replacing it part of the scheduled maintainance? I don't recall seeing it. Our other car also has a cabin filter, and they want it changed every oil change.
He didn't say it was required maintenance, but I can only imagine it requires it fairly regularly. I live off a 2 mile dirt road up the side of the mountain and we get a lot of dust. I'll be cleaning/changing mine every 3-4 months. He did say it could be cleaned (shop vac).jbradfor said:Is replacing it part of the scheduled maintainance? I don't recall seeing it. Techno, great info! THX! I'll be looking for mine tomorrow! I bet it needs replacing/cleaning w/every other oil change. Why breathe dust?? :thumb:techno said:He didn't say it was required maintenance, but I can only imagine it requires it fairly regularly. This cabin filter is a puzzle. When the Enclave began production, I contacted Buick to find out whether the Enclave would have a pollen filter to filter cabin air. (My wife has allergies.) Buick said no. So what is this cabin filter? Maybe it just filters out dust and passes through finer particles like pollen.Enclave 1 said:Is this cabin filter supposed to filter out pollen and such?
I'd suspect it is for dust. Though, I'm sure with enough patience and some engineering skills, you might be able to create something that filters allergens too (think Home Depot and washable filters for HVAC units).Enclave 1 said:This cabin filter is a puzzle. Bummer. Must be another one of GM's "corporate think" decisions - i.e. less trouble so lets not make the product better.Smokin SRX said:OK. Just saw the "Cabin Filter/Cover assembly" which I mentioned above. Part # 25837964. It is nothing more than a screen, INCAPABLE of catching pollen or dust, based on the screens mesh size. It would catch broken leaves or other visible debris , but not a true filter of air, at all. I didn't buy it. Parts guy says "that's all folks".
Guess that there is no true "pollen, air" filter for Enclave?
