Captain Chair Comfort?

2978 Views 7 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Canuck
Went out on a 30 min test drive with a person in the second row captain seats. During the ride the person noted the smaller feeling seat and the seat was not that comfortable for longer trips.

Any thougths or comments on the captain seats? Are the seats optimize for getting in the 3rd row vs longterm riding comfort for an adult?

Next time we take it out I and my wife will have to sit in the back for a longer time not just to check the leg room.

No we will not be in the back at the same time.....checking out the seats

I will post this in the Acadia site. More seat time in the Acadia and not sure it is the same seat.

i rode in the captains chairs of the enclave and found them to be very comfortable. comfort is a must for myself in all 3 rows because i never know when i will be in the rear seats cause usually on our cross country trips my nephew and his wife are usually w/us and sometimes get in the back to take a good nap, stretch out and watch a few movies.
I think this is one of the things that must be determined in person. What one person finds really uncomfortable
others may find more than comfortable. Depending on personal preference, medical conditions, and the like,
the captain's chairs may be comfortable enough. I tested both an Acadia and Enclave back to back, and I really
didn't notice much difference between the capt. chairs in either vehicle, but I only sat in the back for about
10min. in each so its hard to say if they are going to be uncomfortable on a long trip. Since I'll very rarely
be sitting in the capt. chairs when I get my next vehicle (either an Enclave or an Acadia), I didn't really pay
much attention to the comfort of the capt. chairs.
Has anyone seen or purchased the 2nd row bench seat? The captain chairs seem smaller than in my Windstar.
check out the gallery you will find pics of the bench seats there.

I understand each person to his own. I was looking for others feelings/peceptions to see why my passenger had the "not that comfortable" before I get in the back and go for a ride.
Hmm, seats felt fine to me. I've had nothing but GM vehicles the last 25 years, so maybe I'm just
used to the way these seats feel. What kind of vehicle is your passenger used to? Did they have
specific complaints (ie thigh support lacking, seat sits too low/high, etc) or a more general complaint?
Also, how big was your passenger? I'm about 5'4" (and the tallest one in my family) so maybe lack
of height is why we didn't notice anything?

Short seat. Fleet like a small chair about a 5'3' Mother in Law..... Normally sat in the front seat of a 1998 Toyota Avalon.
