I personally hate them. I would think my name on the rear would be tacky. Someone else's name just downright unacceptable. I love my dealer, but will be requesting that they NOT put any decals or similar on the rear when ours is delivered.

I think it all depends on the dealer. Some use very tasteful, classy decals that don't detract from the vehicle. Others are over the top and totally tacky! It also depends on the name of the dealer...there are some names I wouldn't want on my vehicle simply because they sound stupid.

I think it's fine to ask for it to be removed. Or even better, use it as a bargaining tool. Tell the dealer you'll keep the decal if they knock a few hundred off the price...afterall, the decal is just free mobile advertising for them...especially on a vehcile like the Enclave that will turn hundreds of heads in the first few months!

I've always requested that they not put a dealer decal on the car. If I buy new off the lot, I asked for it to be removed. Especially the dealer I deal with most often. Their's is 2" x 3" square with a silver outline around the outside and really stands out.

I don't mind the dealer branded license plate frames, but I truly dislike decals or badging on body panels.
I tell them that I will not purchase a car with their decal pasted on MY car...but will allow for a license plate frame...that I take off once my temporary tags expire. I've never had to nasty about it...they simply remove it or do not put one on.

I won't accept a car with dealer decals on it. We asked them not to do it and if they do they'll have to remove it (cleanly) or we're not taking the car. That's all there is to it for us. As far as I'm concerned, it's no different than buying a shiny new car and making it mandatory that someone at the dealership must kick it as hard as they can with a dirty boot before you take it. No thanks, they can keep it.

I won't leave a dealer license plate on our vehicle either. They can put it on if they want but I'll just take it off within hours anyway.
It wasn't long ago that you could buy a car off the lot of some dealers without any branding junk on it. I just don't find it acceptable for something that costs that much to be cheapened in that way. Some times they just slap that stuff on and it's crooked and out of place.
I assume they all must've gone to some convention in the last few years and got the bright idea that if they blatantly shove it down your throat then the majority of people won't be motivated enough to complain.

There is one dealership in my area that actually promotes their decal in their commercial...indicating that you are a preferred customer with the decal on the back of your new car.

Ask me how many times I've stepped foot into that dealership...yep...zip, zero, nill, nada, nunca...you get the picture.

I absolutely refuse to Buy the car if it is on my vehicle.
i told them when they were getting my enclave that if a dealer anything was anywhere on the vehicle ,
they were going to lose business or it would cost them another 2 grand for advertising.
a sales guy standing there said to me "not even a liscence plate? and i said no way.
i told him if you want me to do that you could advetise for me on your sign out front promoting my band or another business.
he then introduced himself as the owners' son lol.
anyway i'm sure he got the point.
this has bugged me for years. It's like pulling teeth from dealers to get something in your favor
and they turn around and use your vehicle that you spent a lot of money on , for their free advertising.
Sorry , but F them. what next ,doctors tattooing their name on your kids?????

Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. It will certainly prevent any hesitation on my part when our Enclave is nearer delivery in informing the dealer that their name will not be going on the rear.

I hate them.

Don't know if I will be removing from the Enclave, since I will be leasing it, and technically I am renting it for 3 years. So they are the owner, I don't know if I will have any say on this, I will try anyways.

I had removed dealer named license plate brackets from my previous cars. I had also removed the sticker from the back of my PF, but that left a gum underneath, it took some time getting rid of that one.

Going forward, when I am BUYING the new vehicle, it will tell them to remove it up front.

I just think it is tacky. I don't like bumper stickers. I don't like window stickers. I like clean and elegant. I wouldn't think of sticking my name on the rear of my vehicle, so why in the world would I put someone else's back there? Not to mention that some dealers have particularly bad taste, and take the decal from just tacky to hideous by having it extremely conspicuous, non-matching color, boxed in so you can't miss it, or worse yet a chrome embleme requiring holes to be drilled through your new vehicle!  :angryfire:

My dealer put a tag on the rear bracket and their emblem on the left lower portion of the liftgate. The emblem is like pinstriping with a bunch of little pieces, it will be coming off as soon as I talk to a friend who works in a body shop the best way to remove it.

JK, to each his own. Bumper stickers wouldn't be made if there weren't plenty of people who liked them! :)

I am strongly apposed to this dealer branding. This is essentially free advertising for the dealer. The last vehicle I purchased had the branding, so I asked to remove it. They urged me to keep it, to which I urged them to take more $$ of the price. I requested on the Enclave that I just ordered for them not to brand it. I hope they comply.

From what I've seen, those that gripe about dealer branding have usually had avg. to poor experiences with their dealer, and those who have no problem with dealer branding usually
have had excellent experiences with their dealer. I never had an issue with dealer branding,
but my family has dealt with the same dealer for over 50 years, and we have always gotten
good deals and outstanding service from them. :thumb: YMMV.

For me it has nothing to do with the dealer personally...we know the owner of our dealership quite well....but **** will freeze over before I allow a silly dealer sticker to be put on my cars! Same goes for license plates....So often the decals are tacky or odd shaped or not put on the vehicle in the right spot to work visually....

For our new Enclave we not only made clear our "no decal" request but also made clear no front tag brackets....kept the front end clean....

Front tag brackets? What the ****!?! If they go drilling holes in my front bumper there is going to be **** to pay.

I personally have nothing against the dealer. The salesman I worked with has been a friend of the family for decades. I didn't haggle on price because I like to support local businesses, and in the long run I figure it will about pay off in one way or another. I'd be happy to tell everyone where the vehicle came from... jeez, I already have and won't take possession for like another four years I guess. But a sticker... no thanks. Drilling holes up front? We're gonna have to check into that!
