I'm planning my Enclave purchase. There are a limited number of Buick dealerships
relative to other GM dealerships in the area. Can I factory order a Buick from a dealership
but have the vehicle delivered to a GM dealership?

Hypothetically -- lets say I get a dealership from out of the area to order an '09 for me (Tralfaz??? :)
can they dropship it to a local GMC/Chevy dealership -- or can they dropship to my front door?

I'm just trying to determine what all my options are.

Ideally I would goto my closest GM dealership where I plan to have the Buick serviced (not a Buick dealership
they are too far away) and order the Bucik from them -- but I'm sure that can't happen.

thanks,

M

TX,

According to the GM franchise agreement, you can only take delivery of a Buick at a Buick dealer; i.e., you can't have it shipped to a Chevy, Pontiac or GMC dealer for delivery (if GM finds out about it, they can pull that dealers' franchise!!). That being said, you can service it wherever you like, after delivery. Where are you located and how far away is your nearest Buick dealer?

Thanks Tralfaz -- your answers were what I was expecting, but I thought I'd confirm.

~30+ miles vs <10... While that may not seem to be a big deal -- that's 30 miles (one way) of rush hour traffic
all in the opposite direction from my office. So from a service point of view -- it's likely to be the GMC
close by.

I'm in SouthWest Austin,

Hmmm. Interesting you say service Enclave wherever. Nearby Cadillac dealer told me they could not do any work on Enclave except fluids, filters and tires. Specifically he said that the tranny TSB could only be done by a Buick service department.

Missed one Chuck Nash in San Marcos -- closer (or at least easier to get to)
than any of the above.

Right, by "service" oil, filters, rotations, etc. anyone can do those...as many new car dealers do those things for a variety of used brands. I.E., your regular maintenance.

Anything beyond fluids, tires, etc. or special on a new car, has to go to the specific brand dealer.

FWIW, we were totally unimpressed with the sales manager at Covert Buick, and decided we wouldn't even try to negotiate with them for our Enclave. Ended up buying it from a dealer in OKC, and we'll get service done at Hewlett in Georgetown.

Good to know -- I dealt with Covert with a Ford -- total A-holes --- bought from smaller Leif Johnson
the next time around -- class acts -- (Maxwell was clueless).

I've had Fords and Nissans since I moved to Texas -- no experience with GM dealerships.

PM me you OKC dealership -- I'd prefer local -- but not if I have to deal with the Coverts.....

thanks,

M
