The Buick Enclave, the next vehicle to roll off the line in Lansing, now has a production date and a price tag.
The crossover - which looks like an SUV but is built on a car body - will go into production at General Motors' Lansing Delta Township assembly plant April 2. It will come with a starting price of $32,790, Buick General Manager Steve Shannon said Wednesday at a presentation of the new Buick lineup in Warren.
The Enclave shares a similar structure with its sister vehicles built at Lansing Delta Township. But compared with the GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook, the Enclave is designed to be more refined and stylish.
It will compete against the likes of the Lexus RX350, Mercedes-Benz R Class and the Acura MDX. But the Enclave is priced several thousand dollars lower than the starting prices of those vehicles. For example, the Acura MDX starts at about $40,000.
"It's a terrific value, when you look at the economy and roominess of it," Shannon said. "It's so unlike anything we've had before."
The Enclave will begin shipping to dealers a few weeks after production begins and to be fully in the marketplace by June 1.
