Have my FWD Enclave since 5/19/2007 and put on 4500+ miles in all driving conditions.
The best that I have seen is 16.9 MPG
Noticed black soot on the exhaust pipes and asked the dealer to check it out.
Service told me that the car is totally up to specs on their computer.
OnStar sends me a monthly report and it also says all is OK.
Daily I drice 10 miles to work. 4 miles via street and 6 miles Highway with no traffic.
Would like to hear from other owners on this topic

We typically get 21+ with freeway driving on trips.

My wife does the typical suburban driving for most of the miles on the vehicle. Ten freeway miles to work three times a week and everything else is to the store, to school, to activities, etc. The mileage for that normal driving is averaging about 15 MPG.
we have had ours for a couple weeks and have 600 miles on it. We have filled it up twice. The first tank was mostly around town driving and we got approx 18.4 mpg, we calculated it manually by using the mileage and gallons purchased to fill it up. The computer said 16.1 mpg. We took a highway trip for about 220 miles and filled it up when we got back. We figured 22.6 mpg and the computer showed 22.2. So thats not bad, our Venture was usually 18 in the city and 22 on the highway.
We are averaging about 16 MPG. We have about 500 miles (2.5 weeks). Most of these are commuting miles, Even though most are HWY miles, its during rush hour so lots of braking/accelaration.

I think you're doing pretty good if you're getting 16 MPG during rush hour, especially driving a 5K lbs Vehicle. 8)
4500 miles, averaging 22-23 on trips 18-19 commuting in traffic. This is hand calculated, I'm showing about 1.5-2 MPG less on the trip computer.
Would be helpful to know whether your Enclave is AWD or FWD when you report your MPG experience.

Though we're in the heart of the midwest, I'm planning on ordering FWD -- in particular because of better MPG (as well as less chance of big repair bills or problems w/AWD if we keep the Enclave past warranty with no GMPP safety net). Haven't reconciled the few times we really NEEDED the AWD with our current vehicle vs the crappy mileage regardless of highway or city driving.
Sorry, good idea.......AWD With everything!
If everyone can fill out their signature that would also help decipher whether we are talking FWD or AWD.
We have 3 tanks on our fwd cxl, first trip from the dealer with all highway we averaged 24.13, second trip 70% highway and 30% downtown Charlotte and Charleston we averaged 22.7, and last tank around town with little hwy and we got 19.85. I'm thrilled but the wife wants more. Go figure!
bdubya,

That's great mileage! If our FWD CXL gets that kind of mileage, I'll be thrilled. The vehicle it's replacing (03 Olds Silhouette Premiere AWD) does about 15-16mpg around town and the best I ever get highway is 21-22mpg -- this is with the old pushrod 3.4L 180hp engine. So, that kind of mileage is what I'm hoping to get (and honestly, nothing short of a real econobox gets much better than mid-20's anyway around town) -- my A4 averages about 24 mpg driving around, so if the Enclave got around 19 or 20, that would be sweet indeed.
AWD CXL about 1400 miles currently at 17.6. Mostly 15 mile trips to/fro work at ~ 35 MPH
This number from the DIC; not manually calculated.
Is that calculated from the entire 1400 miles or is it from just 1 trip ?? Just curious. Thanx.
Probably all 1400.

Mine was showing 12.8 when I got it, after driving the first week, it bump up to 13.5 or something like that. I reset the counter and now seeing an average of 16.8 MPG. I do mix driving 30% City and 20% of crawling freeway and rest 50% of real freeway. and I am heavy footed too, which is kind of useless for the Enclave as it takes it time to get up and go.
I filled up today and finally reached 15 MPG. (Same results calculated manually and electronically.) All stop and go street driving. I envy the rest of you.

Axiama,I'm not sure what your driving habits are, but I believe if you drive as if you're not in a hurry, and try to keep your speed as steady as possible (even in traffic), I believe you might see a slight improvement in your mileage. I hope so. Take care.
Well, a new driving habit I've developed is to coast to stop lights and stop signs.

That's part of what it takes to achieve Optimum Gas Mileage.
I sure will be happy to report my Mileage. Ha! Probably next year. :banghead:
Have 3K miles now on AWD CXL. Seeing 16.8 city. Just took a long trip and saw 22.8.

Make no mistake! This is a heavy, but very aerodynamic vehicle. After much trial/tracking, I now believe this vehicle will get 12-15 around town w/ a load or quick starts, but 19-26 on the highway (I did it 3X !) with ALL highway driving (I reset DIC Average). CRIUSE CONTROL "on" and speed between 60-75 MPH !! This is why most see 16-17 averages in combo driving!
Re-set your DIC "average" at each type of driving I.E..........doing the local chores/work w/ traffic, then re-set when actually getting onto highway and see for yourself! The weight hurts around town, but WOW ....... the 6-speed auto is great on the highway!
It doesn't get any better for a Luxo/Utility vehicle! :thumb:
