May be MuddyZ or Canucks in the know can answer this question...

Apparently, the US model Enclave has Bi-Xenon headlamps while the Canadian brochure says only low-beam HID. Is this really the case? I doubt this has anything to do Canadian specs or regulations. Europeans offer Bi-Xenons on many vehicles (including Enclave's competitors Q7 and XC90) in Canada. So why not on Enclave? Are there other Canadian GM models that offer Bi-Xenons?

Thanks.

I had noticed the same a few months ago while browsing Canadian brochure. It could be true.

Acadia owners pay $500 for HID option and still do not get bi-Xenon.

Cross the border and get it from here! from what I hear the $ conversion rate is almost the same as C$, so it will be cheaper buying it in the U.S.

Buying from the U.S. is what I am thinking of doing..I know a broker who could do it for me for a fee.
I live on the border 5 min drive and a Buick dealer 5 mins away.

Must be a catch...like dealer can not sell to you or cac't get service in Canada etc...

I'm trying to convince my parents to take me to our dealer again to I can first, see the Enclave in person, as well as investigate the HID question for myself on the Enclave and Acadia. My parents don't want to take me because the last time I asked them to take me we almost drove out with an Acadia .

ok guys this is silly, and driving me nuts, so i am posting to settle this, this question has been answered and answered again and again, the acadia does have bi-Xenon
it uses the same bulb except on low beams it has a flap that coveres half the light when you switch to high beams you here a clunk and the flap raises and exposes the entire light. this is the same on the acadia, the enclave, the outlook, the cadillac dts, deville, cts, xlr, and any other gm car or truck with hids. except for the corvette witch gives you low beam hids and high beam halagons .

I do not have an Acadia, so my information is just based off of GMC's website, It says "HID Projector low beam, halogen projector high beam"

Seriously, somebody here (or on Acadiaforum.net) with an HID-equipped Acadia should take a picture of the low-beam and high-beam light patterns on a garage or something, as well as accompanying pictures of the headlamp clusters so that we finally have definite proof that the website is wrong and that the lights are in fact Bi-Xenon. Zman already did that with his Enclave, so we have definite proof that the Enclave has Bi-Xenons, backing up the US specs, but I doubt Canada would be any different. It seems very unlikely that GM would change something so trivial just for one country (and not an extremely populated one either).

BTW: Does anybody know what the inner-most pair of lights in the headlamp clusters are for? I know the outer-most are the turn signals, and the middle projector is the bi-xenon bulb, but what is the inner-most one?

ok guys, yall know that i sold my lambda and really shouldn't be here but i had one and drove it for 6 months and i know what it had and didn't have, i took pictures for the acadia site, and i will see if i can find them someware in one of my (many) camera cards, jonv112 the innermost ( if i understood you question right) is the day time running light on an acadia with hid's, on an acadia with out hid's the outer most one light's up dimmer in the day time for drl's and the innermost is the high beams, but that was not the case for hid equipped acadia's the inner one lights up only in the day time.

i will post pictures as soon as i find them.

btw i am still activly looking at an enclave for my father who wants a new car so i will keep yall posted on that.

I would imagine the same... it is hard to believe GM equips Canadian models differently. However, the Canadian brochure is very explicit on HID low-beam AND halogen high-beam. ???

At the same time, I have seen some US models of other manufacturers not equipped with DRLs which is a requirement in Canada. So there is a possibility they could be different. This is why I posed this question to MuddyZ, who would very likely know if in fact Canadian models are built differently.

But in the US every new GM car has DRLs, as well as in Canada, so that can't be it. Of the two Enclaves I have seen in Toronto, the location of the DRLs is the same as I see them in the US, right beside the fog lights. Most of the time DRL's are implemented quite easily by a fuse or relay. There was a whole thread on siennaclub.org on how you can implement DRLs in non-equipped models by adding a simple fuse or jumper into the fuse box.

Actually, RT, I meant to ask what is the innermost light cluster is on the Enclave, not the Acadia, but thanks for the quick reply anyway!
