Hidden "hi-hat" light illuminates center console

Has anyone noticed the tiny, hidden light recessed in the headliner, that provides a soft, amber glow to the shift lever area? The first time I noticed that the shift lever area was lit at night, I asked myself, "Where the **** is this light coming from?" I followed the beam upwards and found a pinhole in the lighting cluster in the headliner. Inside that pinhole is an amber light that is invisible except for the beam of light itself. Sonofagun! There's something I've never seen in a car before. Nice touch![/color]

I agree, pretty cool.
A new GM staple "wow feature" I believe. The Outlook has it as well as the new Saturn Aura.
I had the same reaction, it's one of the "little" things that is really impressive about the Enclave.

Hi Big Larry,

Guess what? My '07 Honda Ridgeline has it too. Great idea and it really works!
Every good American idea gets copied in Asia.

Just for the records, the Ridgeline came before the models mentioned above.
Coop, I'm sure you're right, however, that doesn't mean that HONDA didn't have access to Buicks Plans and Programs. I might be wrong but I believe they're all in this together. I see too many Vehicles with too many features of Cars from other Countries or Companies. Rocketman 8)
well, lots of car brands use the same designers.
Sorry guys, but my 2005 Audi A6 has the same soft lighting down on the center console, happens to be a reddish color, but really isn't anything new....
Nobody is implying that it's new, just that it's nice to have. It's one of those details that makes you feel that their was some discussion in the design room about what the actual customer might like.
That's right. Good ideas are for everybody. The Enclave is the result of a lot of planning and perhaps idea sharing with other cars. Look at the Asians cars copying the Germans for years....only doing it better in most instances. GM's quality is so much better now than say 20 years ago, probably because of the competition. Who benefits? We do. I'm driving the Ridgeline, but I am GM from way back. Even includes a '65 Riviera GS, but good ideas makes for much better cars. I can hardly wait for my new Enclave.
hey guys n gals,

guess what i learned on the news today? i learned that most car design studios are in southern california. they showed a lot of them to us and i was shocked to see what they used for buildings, old bread bakeries, milk dairies, old factories and places like that. they have no advertisement on them at all just the address. you would never expect those to be car design studios. acura was nice enough to show us a little of the inside of their design studio and gm only let us see the outside from a helicopter ;D... i thought it was very cool especially since we had been discussing designs and such in this thread. btw, most of them are within miles of each other so you never know who is watching who. :thumb:

Was yours one of the trucks that was in that recall?

I don't have a Ridgeline.
I have the Ridgeline and no recall to date. Purchased in Feb '07. It has some goofy things about it like no cig lighter when ignition is off. Can't recharge my cell phone, etc. If I unlock the doors with remote, but take too long to reopen, they relock. Usually just as I reach for the handle. Things like that, but no recall. Nice El Camino.

VW has been doing this in their cars for a long time; at least as early as 2001.
I used to have a 99 Corvette that had this. Beat that! :D
