Hello I am interested in the Enclave but I have a few questions. First will it fit in my garage? I already have a big vehicle in my garage and that is using the side with the 9 foot wide door. The other door is either 7-8 feet wide (I am nearly certain it is 8 feet) and both doors are 8 feet high. So will it fit? I looked up the spec's but it doesn't tell me how wide the Enclave is with the Mirrors folded and extended.

I also wondered if the Enclave came with power folding mirrors in case I need to fold the mirrors. How wide is the vehicle once the mirrors are folded?

The only thing I didn't like with this vehicle is that antenna on the roof, I am wondering if they sell a shorter antenna (1"-2") that I can screw in so I don't have to see it.

Finally when will they add the HUD (Heads Up Display)? I know its in the Acadia but I heard rumors they are trying to offer a HUD for the Enclave. I plan on waiting until this features come out.

I am also curious what options will be on this vehicle in the future? If anyone knows please tell me.

Thanks.

I had a test drive of an Acadia (which is a smidgen bigger in the rear) for 2 days and it fit in my garage - a standard 2 car garage in a 3 br/2ba tract home. The liftgate even opened with 1/3 inch to spare!

What are the dimensions of your garage? I measured the my door and it is 8 feet wide and 7 feet high. So will I be able to fit it? With Mirrors folded or extended? How much room on each side? Thanks.

Can't find a measuring tape right now but my garage is a 2-car opening so that sounds bigger than yours but the height is probably similiar. You may need to get someone with closer dimensions and an actual Enclave to help.

Sorry!

The Enclave is 79 inches wide, or about 6 1/2 feet. Even if that doesn't include the mirrors, I'm sure they don't add another 1 1/2 feet to the width, especially when folded, so yes it should fit but it might get a little used to. :)

Power folding mirrors are available... as either part of the CXL model or the luxury package, don't remember which specifically.

No one here really knows about the HUD timing. GM is working on making the reflective coating for the windshield compatible with the quiet tuning windshield lamination in the Enclave.

As for the antenna there are aftermarkets available. I have a Mazda3 with the antenna on the roof, talk about ugly. Anyways I got what is called a "Stubby" from e-bay. Just screws on like the orginal. Some even went as far to get one that fits on the Hummer, yes it fits. The only problem is reception. Not as good as the original but not enough of an issue for me. So will a "Stubby" fit, go to e-bay and search to find out. If not one might be available later..high long is the one on the Enclave? looks short to me compared to my Mazda3 antenna.

Thats good to hear, sounds like I should have plenty of room to get it into the garage. I am getting the highest trim so I guess the power folding mirrors will be standard. I hope GM can get the HUD option out by 2009-2010 because that is the longest I am willing to wait. Thanks for the info.

Yea I don't really shop from E-Bay (More of an Amazon person). But I will check it out. I was hoping for an antenna that was at most only an inch. The way it looks the Enclaves antenna is between 4"-6". It might not be big but I am not a fan of visible antenna's (Prefer the type in the glass or hidden somewhere else in the body). Reception is not a big deal as long as it is still decent. I only listen to like one FM station anymore (Mostly listen to XM Radio). The look of the vehicle is more important to me.

Edit: This is the kind of antenna I would want: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&viewitem=&item=250141758466

Will it fit?

The Enclave needs antennas for:
AM radio
FM radio
XM satelite radio
navigation GPS satellites
Onstar phone
Onstar GPS satellites

I don't know how many of these are served by the antenna that sticks up, but it would be wise to make sure that whatever replacement you get does not have negative consequesnces on any of these functions.

The online ordering guide lists the antenna (UUD) as Antenna, Quad-Band for AM/FM stereo,
OnStar and XM Satellite Radio, so the antenna on ebay probably won't work if you want xm
and onstar to still work.

Its no big deal really, it would of been nice but I can deal with it. My main concern (Other than the ascetic's) was is it would get torn off when entering my garage.

Hi. I too had all the above concerns. So.................

It fits in a standard 8 ft. garage with the mirrors OUT! 3 or 4 inches max, each side, @ the door opening frame. ( I folded my optional power-folds mirrors at first try, but now use them to help back out! ) Go slow at first and by the 15th time, you'll zing it right in!

The antenna is made to accommodate certain various wave lengths, so beware of swapping it out! It does clear my garage door, opener , and tracks by 1". ( I have a low garage cause there's a room above it!) You may not see a performance difference till you're lost and On-Star can't "read" you! Fringe areas need that factory antenna OR equivalent. Experiment, but I'd keep the factory unit in my storage bin ;)

At 700 miles, we love our Enclave. But we will look into getting the tranny "re-flashed to facilitate shift patterns and earlier downshifts , unless I learn to drive this 6-speed a little differently :thumb:

Well I am glad it fits width wise, that was my biggest concerns. In the beginning I might power fold both mirrors but eventually I will get used to the width. So what is the height of your door? Plus do you know the height of the antenna? I am shocked GM hasn't fixed the transmission problems yet. Its not a big deal but if it affects the performance it needs to be fixed.

Yeah, width is no problem now even w/ mirrors out! my garage is 79" high @ the doors lip, while raised! the antenna just misses it as I have a small lip ( 1" maybe) as you go into the garage!

now for the tranny.........either it's shifting better or I'm learning how to drive a 6 speed!!! I still think it should downshift at around 35-45 mph a little quicker..that is w/o having to push pedal down so far! not as bad as I first thought. Maybe this is just a different animal. I read about the car testers always complaining about some 6 speeds constantly "searching" for the right gear. don't want that either! will give it a week longer as we go on a 900 mile vacation this Sunday!! :thumb:

Great if it works for you then I should have plenty of room. As for the 6 speed I will probably get used to it, but by time I fix it they will probably re-program it. Thanks for the info.
