is there difference between lux telescopic steering wheel and manual?

i've read where some folks have had trouble see the guages with the lux package telescopic steering wheel. would you still have the issue if you had the manual telescopic steering wheel?

The manual wheel goes about an inch higher than the power one.
I an 5'8 and my husband is 5'11 and neither one of us have any problem with seeing steering wheel being in the way of teh gauges. We have the manual adjust steering wheel.
telescoping to me is a must.
it lets me bring the wheel out further from the dash so i can have my
legs stretched out toward the pedals.if not i would have the seat so far up to make the steering wheel
close enough but, legs would be too close.i'm 5'-11" .the one thing i wish they had other then cooled seats is
adjustable pedals as part of the memory package.
i mean they have every option under the sun but, these two.makes no sense.oh well,
i still love it.
the enclave steering wheel telescopes (in and out) and tilts (up and down) both in the luxury package (electric motor movement) and manual.

the issue for me is that i'm tall (6' 5").

i understand that the manual tilt..tilts up 1 inch higher than the luxury package electric version.

can someone verify this for me?

are there any tall folks driving one with the luxury package (electric) seeing the instrument panels ok?
I am 6'2" and I cannot buy an Enclave until the luxury tilt & telescopic wheel adjusts higher. I refuse to duck down and weave while traveling at high speeds to see my speed. There is no excuse for this other than poor testing and engineering. Everything else in the car is fine but they really blew it on this one. And the fact that Buick is looking into correcting the problem tells you they see a problem here also.

now be real... how many people keep a close eye on the speedometer once they get use to the car? i cant see all of mine anyway have little stuffed animals sitting there instead but i know where the 80 mile marker is and i can see enough of it to know when i have passed that 80 mile marker. if youre glancing at the speedometer that much when are ya watching the road?
carnutpa,

how do you know there is a 1 inch difference?

did you measure it yourself?
Actually, I did not measure it. I sat in an Acadia with the manual wheel and I could see the gauges fine and it I could see that the wheel was in a higher position. The Buick rep I emailed also told me that the manual wheel does go higher in the Enclave. I estimate it is about an inch.
sat in an enclave today with the luxury package, adjusted the seat almost all the way up, tilted the steering wheel up and could see the gauges just fine. didn't see a problem and again, i'm 6' 5".
Haven't been in an Enclave yet, so this is pure speculation, but I suspect that the limitation of gauge visibility by the steering wheel has as much to do with one's preferred driving position(how high and close to the wheel vs. how reclined and away from it) as it does with one's height. That said, there does appear to be a small but reproducible segment of folks for whom the adjustment range isn't enough to make them comfortable. Here's hoping there's a resolution to this somehow.
makes sense.

my position was with the seat up in a reasonable position to get my legs up and back all the way.

is the 1 inch difference on the tilt angle or the distance that it telescopes back to the driver?
I sat and adjusted the wheel, seat etc and tired to block the view of the gauges. The gauges get blocked out close to my prefered position and I'm 6.0 ft. So with a little more adjustment range likely no problem. I will spend a little more time next ride to make sure it is not a problem.

Perhaps they will offer HUD starting next year, so you may not need to see the gaugues just look into HUD.

I just adjusted my preferred seating position last night after we pick up our enclave. I am 6'4" and have no problem seeing the gauges, and we do have the lux package with power tilt/telescoping steering wheel. It really does depend on how you like you seat, not how tall you are i guess.
i finally got a chance to check out the lux tele steering wheel that baby is sooooo nice.... im 5'5 and once i get used to my car i could careless bout the gauges. as long as i can see the 80 mile marker and gas level im cool. now, i did notice that there is nowhere for me to put my stuffed animals on that darn thing like i have now. :sosad:
