Luxury package Contraints

:help: Does anyone know if the luxury package contraints have been lifted? I also wonder why White Diamond is limited when it is not on a cadillac. Paint is paint, right?

White Diamond, fully loaded with entertainment 3 package. (We have a portable dvd, I can't justify $$$ for that oiption!)

Vikchic,

If you haven't ordered/purchased your Enclave, I would reconsider your decision to not get the DVD system. The total cost of ownership is the cost to purchase + maint. + cost to get rid of. RESALE!!! Once you start to get in the 40K range, there are certain options/features people start to expect. Even if you plan on keeping it until the wheels fall off, the site of hanging some bag over the front seats or a kid having to hold a DVD player in their lap while others lean over to get a look doesn't fit the Enclave. That would be okay for an entry level vehilce. You wouldn't get your two cousins (non carpeters) to finish your basement if the home was a very nice one. Maybe for a starter home but not an Enclave type home. Just my opinion.
The constraint on the PCK package also known as the "Luxury Package" is not lifted yet. From what I can gather there are only between 350-400 allowed to be built with this package and only starting in mid August. Your dealer would need to be allocated a build from this pool to get one built. They may only get 1 for the first week of PCK builds (more or less depending on many factors). Hopefully the luxury package will get ramped up. They are constrained because of the power/tilt/telescopic steering wheel.

Bummer.... mine will most likely not be in the first of the PCK builds in August as my dealer has orders ahead of mine.
I am going to talk with my dealer on Monday about this as well when I see if my order code has changed :)

We only wanted the Luxury Pkg for the heated outside mirrors, which we deem as a must for New England winters. I wish that this was just a standard option on the CXL as it was on our Town & Country LXi.
comiccolec,

can i ask, where did you get this info?

tks
I get my information from a variety of places. I am very good at finding and verifying reliable data. I have posted most of the locations that I frequent on the "Usefull Websites Post" already. Although there are some sources that I can't openly acknowledge. I do not post anything that can't be verified (assuming you had the same contacts, or access).

I am also in the process of ordering, waiting and eventually receiving an Enclave. I am therefore very motivated to learn as much as I can about the whole process and to research and/or receive any updated information. I am if nothing else persistant. I need to keep up with the information to ensure that everything goes well with my order.

I will endeavor to get and pass on as much information as I can. I hope this helps.

I do want to say that I do not now nor have I ever worked for any auto manufacturer or dealer nor do I plan to anytime in the future.

The information in this post is from a report that was able to locate and review. I was able to verify that this report came from a GM source.

Does anyone know the name of the GM supplier that is failing to supply the power telescopic wheel in sufficient quantities?
I've read where only 25% of the purported weekly PCK orders can be met. That means 75% of the requirements are moving into a backlog. This supplier/Buick is going to have to face a surge in production of 500% (WAG) of normal deliveries to work off the backlog before it can scale back to 100% of demand.
Looking at the LDT video and hearing "JIT" 'Just In Time' parts being supplied made me chuckle.
I've been out of the aircraft business for a few years now, but it reminds me of our problems with "JTL" 'Just Too Late' causing work to be traveled to expensive end-of-line pick up stations.
I wonder if Buick's "JTL" approach is going to travel many customers down the street to other dealers.
Hmmmm--- That would solve the backlog problem! :blob:

JIT has been in the car industry at least 10-15 yrs so not a new concept. I think this is more of an incorrect projection of demand.
comiccolec,

we really appreciate you sharing your info. thanks for all you hard work.

It does! No need to get the so called "luxury package" for heated mirrors! Heated, manual folding, power mirrors with integrated turn signals are standard on ALL Enclaves.

I too live where it's VERY cold -- we went 3+ weeks without getting above freezing last winter. But no need to delay your Enclave nor pay extra if that's all you need from the package.

The Enclave IS a luxury (or near luxury) vehicle regardless of what options you elect. The "lux" option only changes/adds 4 things:
1) adds a low amp 115 volt power inverter. For less than $30, go to costco or walmart and get one to plug into any of the 12 outlets that come standard if that's what you need.
2) changes tilt and telescope stearing wheel to a power tilt/telescope one. This is where the supply crunch is.
3) changes the bi-xenon hid headlamps to articulating bi-xenon ones.
4) changes the heated manual folding power mirrors to power folding power mirros, and adds driver side auto dimming too.

While each of these gadgets are cool, none imo is worth the cost nor the added wait, but to each their own. I just don't think this option group effects the car's luxury status in any way...

Agreed, I think if you're going to get a fully loaded one anyway then that's fine. However, if you're looking for options to exclude then the Lux Pckg is definitely one that can probably be dropped.
I spoke with the manager where we are ordering our Enclave today. There is no order issue or hold-up with my order due to the Luxury Pkg. On the order invoice he said that it would state for what ever item there may be a hold on with that package with the option to remove it. The 25% limit on Luxury Pkg only applies to dealer stock orders. If your order is in GMs system as being built/order by you (ordered with your name/address tagged to it) and is set as a P1 (priority order - which most all customer orders are) the Luxury Pkg will not delay your order.

So I am still hopefully for end of August delivery :blob:

Muljo: thank you for that info, as my order is listed as sold to me! With that code! :blob: I can't wait to tell my husband. I wish my salesperson had his ducks in a row on important info like this. This could change everything.

I don't know if that's completely true. I don't have any hard facts, but my observation over the last few weeks tells me that those ordering without the Luxury Package are getting their Enclaves much sooner. Take a look at the "June orders" thread...just a couple examples of anecdotal evidence that ordering the Luxury Package equals a longer wait.

Either way, all the orders will eventually come. IMHO people are a little too "instant-oriented" in today's society. It wasn't that long ago that it took 6-8 weeks just to get a Thigh-Master off a TV infomercial. 8-12 weeks for an AUTOMOBILE built to your exact specifications is still pretty impressive!

That said, I wish a drive-up Enclave window, place my order, drive out with Enclave, LOL. Anyway, good point.
I really do not mind waiting as it gives me time to try and sell my Town & Country myself. The problem is that if I do not sell it I have to deal with the trade-in stuff and the dealer said the more I can stay under 100K the better. I am sitting at 96,260 mile right now.... 40+ miles a day to work does not help. Driving my husbands truck as much as possible, but it is a '98 Dodge Ram 1500, kind of big for me.

I still can not keep from being excited... just like Christmas :)
I agree with muljo. I have a 2006 Nissan Armada LE that I have up for sale (wife wanted a car based suv/cuv). Waiting on my Enclave will give me time to sell my Armada. We will sell our 99 Toyota Solara once our Enclave arrives. However, I still am like a kid before Christmas waiting on my...I mean my wife's Enclave.
Has anyone heard any recent updates on this subject?
Just talked to our dealer... he said they only produce 200/week with the luxury package due to the constraint. We ordered 5/26. Basically you get in line and wait and wait and wait. I have no idea if orders are preferenced by region, dealer, or if they go strictly by order date. We live in MN and our local dealer has had and sold about 7. Unfortunately most have been FWD. Going from a Tahoe to FWD doesn't suit me... how would I get over those snow drifts the plows leave in front of my driveway???
With a snow blower
