(1) AAA Membership Brochure ???

Don't get me wrong I have a Plus membership as we have 2 cars with no warranty, but I've never used it.

It would stand to reason that if you have AAA Plus, they are charging a decent amount, and you wouldn't need anything in the kit....

imho if you were to assemble a kit yourself, the quality of the items would be far greater....just my .02

Good points, john 070.

BTW, I upgraded from the "Plus" plan to the "Premium" plan for towing coverage of up to 200 miles instead of 100 miles. My family and I occasionally travel with our out-of-warranty-100K+ (that's a mouthful) cars beyond the 100 mile range covered by the "Plus" plan, and we wouldn't want the cars towed to and left at a garage or dealer far from home for repairs.

hehe always makes me think of the time I had my car towed to Vermont while in grad school (Volvo), I had to calculate a good spot to be picked up so I was < 100 miles from the indie shop, and I drove it to a point where I knew I would be 93 miles away (fuel line was leaking). 200 would be quite a road trip, and quite a loss to the business that owns the flatbed (they are deadheading for 1/2 the trip--and we're not talking about listening to Jerry tunes!!)....

That makes sense.

I suppose that even the 200 mile towing range with the "Premium" AAA plan wouldn't help much if we drove either of my out-of warranty cars on a very long road trip; say to Florida. But, my wife and I haven't had the opportunity to drive more than a couple hundred miles from home since our 2009 Disney World trip, during which my Enclave's power steering pump failed just as I was driving up to the resort front entrance.

I still remember the guy as we made our way up I-87N...."I'm losing a ton of money on this call. We only get paid one-way, and below the going rate. The only way we make money is when we bring you back to our shop and do repairs. By the way, do you know where I can get some cheap smokes in VT?" :binky:

I miss those days

I have jumper cables, first aid kit and flares in the back storage compartment. Haven't had to use them, but, always better to have something on hand.

Nope, complete and total waste of time......just ask Tom Brady, who doesn't need anything in his trunk because he got AAA. Of course, since he's got Health Insurance, he never has to pull aspirin from the medicine cabinet when Giselle has a headache, or a band-aid from that same cabinet for the bleeding cut on his, well, I don't where it it.
