my impressions on a road trip

Hi folks, I had to make a trip down to Tampa- St. Pete today about 4 hours each way. First of all, as I am pulling out of my little town this guy spotted the Enclave as I was getting gas. I had to stop behind him at a 4 way stop. He actually got out of his car and walked to my window smiling. He asked if this was the new Buick he had heard about. Said it was awesome. Anyway, whether on the interstate or back roads this thing handles like a dream. I found the acceleration very adequate. It is no race car but when passing on a 2 lane highway it takes off and you feel very confident. The level of comfort and quiet is amazing. It's like riding down the road in my recliner. I really enjoy the nav system and the quality of the Bose sound system is wonderful. Also, making turns in parking lots or U turns is very easy. The Enclave gets lots of looks so be prepared for people to stare. I have had a Tahoe, Grand Cherokee, 4 runner and Rainer. This by FAR is the cream of the crop!!!!!

Sweet!
i dont remember, sorry, but did you already post that you had an enclave?
COOLLLLLLL, DO U HAVE AWD OR FWD
I got the Enclave on Wednesday. Cocoa metallica fully loaded AWD. I don't need AWD very often but we do go to the Mountains in Winter and sometimes it snows even in North Ga.

NICE, I SAW ON THE ACADIA FORUM THAT THEY WERE HAVING LOTS OF TROUBLE W/THE AWD SO I GUESS THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM BEFORE THEY ROLLED THE ENCLAVES OUT.
One of the backroads today was very winding. The vehicle had little roll to it. It really hugs the road well. You just feel so confident and safe on the road.

SO, YOU HAD NO LAG IN THE TRANSMISSION? I SUPPOSE THEY FIXED IT....
I will admit the Tranny takes a little getting used to. It does feel a little boggey at times but the more I drive it the less I notice it. My Ranier had the 4 speed of course and it always seemed to wind up so high sometimes. The 6 speed is much smoother.
Maybe the transmission is learning your style. I don't think I have enuf miles on mine yet. It is really geared to run low RPM. At 60 it is like 1600 RPM.
you are probably right. I sort of hated putting the miles on it so soon but the trip was fun.
From the length of your trip, you must be located somewhere in South Georgia. Where did you find your Enclave or had you ordered it? Haven't seen any near where I live.
Morven, I got it at Walker Jones in Waycross. I have been bugging them for a year about the Enclave. When they ordered one in March my salesman, Bob Dunn called me to ask what options I would want. I told him pretty much everything. They also ordered it with AWD. He called me on Tuesday and said they were unloading "your Enclave". I drove there on Wednesday and made the deal. He said they are expecting a white one any day.

There will be an update to the transmission later this year that should help improve the driveability. You'll be able to get this from the dealer when it's available.
buick59,

Thanks. I will keep them in mind. You didn't mention mpg. Did it live up to the estimate? I have a Rendezvous and am looking forward to driving the Enclave. Just hope it will get at least as good mpg as the Rendezvous. Sounds like your Enclave lives up to the quietness and smooth ride promise.
EPA on the AWD is 22 hwy. I believe FWD is 24-25. I have not really checked it yet. Keep in mind the Enclave is larger than the Rendevous and heavier i assume. My Rainier was worse than the Enclave. I don't have to commute to work so that is not a big deal however I wish it did get closer to 25 for the AWD.
i have never paid attention to mpg....i get in my car fill it up and go lol.. i have a lead foot so if i get the 500 miles it says i can get when filled up im happy.
MsS42, according to the News today, That will change pretty quick. I think now, many many more people will start to pay attention to MPG. I'm sure you are paying a high premium now compared to us back east, but fuel is going to go even higher for you and me. :banghead:It's crazy and I can't be convinced it's not price gouging. :banghead:
