When using the remote start on the 2018 Avenir, I have noticed that although the heater comes on, the heated steering and seats do not. How could they omit this feature? On my previous vehicle everything came on. Can someone please verify this on their Enclave?

Page 153-154 in the 2019 owner's manual says that you can set the heated/ventilated seats and heated steering wheel to come on with remote start in the Settings menu. What does your 2018 owner's manual say?

From page 159:
Remote Start Auto Heat Seats
If equipped and turned on, this feature will turn the heated seats on when using remote start on cold days. Select Off or On.

I'm sure I have it set for the seats to turn on in settings. No mention of the heated wheel turning on. They may have added that for 2019. Maybe the dealer can program it in the computer.

We bought a 2019 Enclave brand new off the lot and the seats didn't turn on when remote started from day 1. We have taken it to the dealer multiple times and they keep telling us it works. When visibly it does not work because its single digit temps outside and I have to get in and sit on a cold seat in the morning. Is there a recall maybe?

Welcome Fen Bass. There is no recall or bulletin that I'm aware of for the heated seats. I would think there would be more owners having the same problem, yet no bulletin. Next trip to the dealer I am going to bring it up again. Although it's out of the basic warranty I will pursue it with them. I would like them to show me that it is working.

Make sure you turn the seat heater on before shutting down the engine. According to the manual it needs to be on prior to remote starting. After a manual start my seat gets too hot to leave on for more than 5 minutes, even on the lowest setting, so I forget to turn it back on before getting out of the vehicle. I don't use remote start very often.

I will give that a try but am vert skepticle. I drive to work on it everyday so it will be a fast thing to test. The three lights for the seat warmer do not light up when I start it with the remote and get in the car before turning the car on with the atart button.

On my first gen the lights for the heated seats don't come on when you remote start it, but if it's cold out the heated seats and mirrors definitely come on automatically because the seats will be warm and the mirrors clear, regardless of if they were on or not when the car was shut off. It would be dumb of GM to take that feature away on the 2nd gen but with GM nothing surprises me.

They took away or omitted several features:

Heated steering doesn't come on with remote (Fixed in 2019 models)
Heated seats turn off when entering vehicle after remote start
No locking gas door
Manual sunshades
No rain sensing wipers

So leaving the heated seats on when I turn the car off, then autostarting in the morning does not turn my heated seats on. I really think, we got a defect when we bought it.

I haven't gone anywhere for the past two days due to a snowstorm, but I will try turning them on prior to shutting down tomorrow, then do a remote start. I'll let you know how it goes. I feel pretty confident that they will not come on.

I turned on the drivers heated seat and shut down the engine, waited a few minutes then remote started it. I let it run for 10 minutes until it shut down. Both seats did get warm. Go figure. In the past I probably didn't leave it running long enough on remote. BTW, if you decide to drive it during the remote start or after it remotely shuts down, the heated seats do not come on automatically.
