I got the same 3 yr offer for the basic plan from my Buick/GMC dealer. Wondered why, then read further down the page where I notices that part of the offer included the dealer getting copies of the monthly diagnostic reports on my Acadia so they can email me about servicing my vehicle.

Still haven't decided if I will sign up or not. The only useful feature is remote door unlocking and I tend not to have a problem of locking myself out.
No worry, you can disable the dealer notification feature by managing your OnStar online account. The OnStar representative even asked me if I wanted to enable the dealer notification during activation. I declined.

In addition to remote door unlocking, you can also remote start the vehicle with the Remote Link app. This way, you do not need to be within range of the key fob, i.e. you can remote start inside a building or store and have the car ready when you come out.

Anyone renew their OnStar subscription lately?
Wondering if anyone has been able to get a reduced price -- it's gotten out-of-hand IMO, $19.99 for what used to be standard services, $199.99 for the year.
This is all I've received in the mail after being a subscriber for about 10 years (with the Enclave and another vehicle before). Last year this cost $149, not exactly a bargain but somewhat tolerable.

Haven't seen you around for awhile, desgnconcpts. Good to hear from you. No, I gave up that subscription long ago. As you said, it's gotten way out of hand. Especially for as little as I am behind the wheel.

thanks cfedor, probably like everyone else, just busy with everything!
you guys would be floored to see our Enclave, still looks (and smells) brand new, we are still under 30K miles (IIRC, about 28K).
rented a BMW X5 (got a great deal on a 1 week rental, it cost less than some crappy compact car) last year on a trip with the family visiting the Grand Canyon and surrounding area. While the X was nice, sure did not have the room and was not nearly as luxurious for what they cost. made me appreciate the Enclave's value. Hope all is well with you.

Still have to decide on Onstar, I'll try to post, renewal is up 6/20.

Quick update, called the Loyalty # and was able to renew for $59.97 for 6 months -- for as many times as desired (so you could renew for 6 mos, 1 yr, 18 mos, 24 mos, etc -- they would simply bill your CC 1, 2, 3 or more times). I renewed for 1 yr, so the cost was pennies under $120. Last year this cost me $149 and at $10 month, I thought it was worth keeping (still wish it was a bit less but I can live with it).

Maybe, just maybe OnStar is listening a little bit to understand the basic package shouldn't cost an arm and a leg.

there is also the free for five years from purchase of a Basic plan that covers almost nothing but a monthly diagnostic report and you can download a remote app. Also minutes and data package available at extra cost. I have a 2015, not sure what year the Basic plan started though.

Yes, it wasn't too bad -- glad some folks found this of some help. I'm not here that often anymore but whenever I do have a Enclave-related question, seems I can almost always find an answer here!

I just renewed my OnStar subscription for the "Security Plan" for $149 (before tax) for 1 year - in under 4 minutes! Complete details for the different plans are at: https://www.onstar.com/us/en/plans-pricing.html

My steps:
1. I called the regular OnStar support number: 1-888-466-7827 to cancel my subscription unless I got an excellent deal.
2. I selected the renew/update option first and then the "Cancel your subscription" option that took me directly to the Loyalty Department.
3. Before I could even say I want to cancel, they offered me a deal for $149, which they normally sold at $249. As a comparison, I paid $189 last year for the same plan.
4. They told me my credit card would be billed twice for $80 ((total was $160.44 after tax)
5. Done: I was off the phone in under 4 minutes!

TIP: make sure you set a reminder for yourself to call them before the 1 year is up, or they will charge you at the most expensive monthly plan rate next year.

Thanks for reminder. They billed me for a monthly last month. They just gave me a credit, and put me on the plan. Awesome! :blob: :blob:
They even got me 60 minutes hands free calling for $5, good for the year.
