We have both these codes on our Enclave 2011 that are showing up. The check engine light comes on for a few days, and then off for a few days. No issues with our vehicle starting up. Occasionally it feels like our vehicle is driving over rumble strips. Thoughts on what is actually going on?

Always start with the lowes codes and P0017 looks like your timing chain is stretched or possibly the tensioner if defective.

P0017-- not good news. Would require a timing chain replacement... which is a known issue on these early models.
The P0420. Oxygen sensors/and or Catalytic converters.

Depending on where youre from---- it could also be expensive.
If your state follows California/NY emissions- then youd have to replace with OEM cats that are California compliant.
If your state does not have Smog checks- then you could replace with cheaper priced/universal type cats.

I Just checked Rockauto.
All the cats they list-- say- not legal for sale in California or Colorado, Restrictions apply in NY.
