They all try to sell paint and interior protection products, at a huge markup I might add. I had a Teflon paint protectant applied to my Enclave by a detail shop for less than half of what the dealer wanted. I have used this product on three of my previous cars that I kept for ten years or more each. I live downwind from the Great Lakes snow machine and I was totally impressed with this product. My cars looked like new after more than ten years. I'm not connected with the supplier or detailer, so this is really in the interest of passing on some great product info. Here's a link to the products website. You'll have to find a detail shop in your area that applies it. It's not something you should do yourself.

my dealer offered me paint protect as well as lease protect which i got
The pitch I got is called the "Appearance Protection" - a five year plan for $497. The paint guard suppose to protect the exterior finish and the fiber and leather guard suppose to protect the interior of the vehicle. I told them no thanks because I already have a plan. It's called "I have two kids to clean my car" plan. One kid will wash the exterior and the other kid will take care of the interior. My plan is more expensive than the Appearance Protection but the kid plan can also be applied to clean the house, their room, the yard, etc. Hope that helps.
FlavaClav, That is hilarious!! I just started that plan but she's just 3 months old. It will take a while to kick in.

 Way to Funny. I implemented that plan as well. At 13 and 8 they can be quite helpful.
My son plays an important role on the other side of this program as he is responsible for making the mess. He does a great job at it. :eek:hno:

I was offered a record 8 "Additives" to my Enclave. Everything from leather protection, paint protection, lease protection, tire insurance and many more. I thought the session with the finance lady was never going to end. I have never found any of these services to be useful (bought most of them at one point or another) and I struggle to pay a whack more profit on my way out the door. They are mostly all insurance policies. If you know insurance...they all stand in line wanting to sell you peace of mind...but when you have a claim...that particular issue is not covered or it was user error, act of God, out of scope, happened on a Thursday, you see what I mean :banghead:

Make your own decisions but be very careful with this and don't be afraid to offer less if you are sold on it.

Our 10 year old plan doesnt even come close to being able or willing to help clean the messes he makes, So with that in mind we opted for a detail shop applied product.

Im not associated with the company, just a satisfied customer.

http://www.permaplate.com/

My wife has used this on more than one car and the price is about a quarter of the $2100 that the dealer wanted to charge me for the same kind of thing, without the same warranty.

The permaplate products are guarateed for 7 years and are applied to paint (UV, fading, chemical protection), leather (UV, stain, and drying out protection) and all the cloth interior parts (same protection, with the addition of a stain guard product).

For our CXL it took about 4 hours for the whole process, we got a retouching kit for all the products, and it cost on 495.

Money well spent!
