I had the dealership install the roof rails on my 2012 Enclave. I'm wondering if it's normal that I have to use really tighten down on the 4 black knobs, using almost as much strength as I can.

I'm just coming from my 2002 Envoy which have a little lever you popped up, slid the rail into position and locked them down. They were so easy to use my wife could help me move them. Now I there is no way my wife could come close to getting them tight enough. Seems like a poor design to me.

Thanks

My experience is the same as yours. It seems like I have to really crank on the knobs to lock the crossbars in place...

on my traverse... this is what holds the crossbars-- holds them from sliding..

little teeth that grab. tighten the screw-- and it bites..

Maybe it will give you a clue to the ones on the Enclave,

Re: Re: Positioning Roof Rails

A lot of roof racks have similar knobs. I guess they assume it's not a big deal since most people rarely, if ever, adjust the cross bars.
