Question re front seat console

12573 Views 42 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  jcflorida
I've read that the console opens up to accomodate up to 16" water bottles. Does anyone know if that is the front row console being referred to? When I test drove the Enclave, I forgot to check to see if it opens up any further than the shallow storage space near the top.

I'm still trying to figure out where I'm going to put my purse :)

Thanks

MUST BE THE REAR CENTER CONSOLE. I HAVE DECIDED AGAINST GETTING THAT ONE BECAUSE IT WILL LIMIT MY SPACE AND MOBILITY FOR MY LARGER SON. HE NEEDS TO BE ABLE TO MANUVER THROUGH THERE FOR ACCESS TO THE 3RD ROW. THE SMART SLIDE WAS STILL NOT ENOUGH ROOM. HE HAD A HARD TIME TRYING TO GET IN AND OUT USING THE SMART SLIDE.
Maybe you are talking about the center console. If you slide back the little "roll top" cover between the cupholders and the sliding armrest you will see the shallow storage bin. This is removable. If you remove it, you are left with quite a deep storage area. I question whether a purse would fit in there however.

IF YOU ARE CARRYING A PURSE IT WILL BUT ON THE OTHER HAND IF YOU ARE CARRYING A SUITCASE AND PERPETRATING IT AS A PURSE THEN NOPE IT WILL NOT FIT. ;D
Thanks. I didn't realize that part was removeable. I'll have to see whether my purse is too big or not. Otherwise, it's the backseat floor.

My dealer is suppose to get my car in as a trade from another dealership today, so hopefully I can go over it and do one final drive before I buy it.

Yeah, it's fairly roomy, but I doubt any normal sized purse would fit easily, besides, it would be a pain to get to it every time. You generally leave the armrest forward (so that it can actually be used as an armrest). We only move it back on the rare occasion to access that console storage bin. There's also a DC outlet in there, so you can charge your phone without having to keep that cable out in the open. Other than extra cd/dvd storage, that's pretty much all we use ours for.
Makes it look nice..... :blob:
I don't think the front console is 16" deep.
It looked like it could to me!, and i thought that you could fit a small purse in there when i looked tonight.
Another reason I wanted the rear Console, it has lots of storage space. I checked again today, and it looks like it will be quite awhile before the rear Console is available. :banghead:
yep, probably 9 to 10" deep. Definately small purse, not med or large.
Now that I have it, I see that my purse wouldl never fit in there. But, I usually keep a book in my car, and that fits along w/ my Entertainment book and maps.

rocketman, that rear console is going to limit your manueverability in the car really bad. the car i test drove of course had no console but i moved the seats using the smart slide system to see if my children could get in and out of the car w/o incidence. the answer is no they could not. so if you are possibly going to be using your rear seats for adults that rear console will def be in the way. based on my needs for the car i have decided against the console and will get a portable console to put there when needed.
MsS42, The seats could still slide back and forth. Seats are still accessible through each rear door. It wouldn't create any problems for me. Everyone has their own situation to deal with. I'm so happy to have mine on order that I will have to consider after market too. I just couldn't wait till October.
I got to see the console at the auto show. Very nice. I really wanted it. But I couldn't wait. I've been waiting too long.
You still have easy access to the 3rd row with it. The only concern is for those owners that would need 2 car seats in the 2nd row. Then the 3rd row access is a big issue.

no u will not have adequate access to third row with console....the smart slide seats still do not move far enough up for easy access.
I disagree strongly! I have seen it. Have you? :sosad:
