Hello!

I know this topic has been posted in the past, and I have reviewed the other posts, however I do have a question that I have not seen asked yet.

I bought my 2011 Enclave new and it did not come with the factory Nav unit. I have since purchased a factory Nav unit for this year/model and installed it myself. It works great and I am having no issues.

I would like, however, to have the Nav unit display the rear back up camera feed (as well as having it display in the mirror still).

I have read the other posts and I know that I have to basically connect the two wires (pin 6 pink+, pin 7 light blue-) from the headliner (I am lucky to have a sunroof so it is super easy to access these wires) to the corresponding + / - wires on the back of the Nav unit, BROWN X4 (VSS, Video) plug.

HOWEVER - My question is - shouldn't the other end of the corresponding + / - wires on the back of the Nav unit, BROWN X4 plug be located at, or near, the camera itself? In other words, can I not just connect these wires at that end (near the actual camera) rather than in the headliner and then having to run wires through the A pillar, under the dash, etc, etc.??

I mean, where is the other end of these wires that are connected to the BROWN X4 plug? They must go somewhere! And logic, to me, would suggest they go to the camera already. Am I way out in left field thinking this?

Does anyone know? I suppose I could remove the rear hatch cover inside and see if all else fails!

Oh, and one more quick question to the group - Does anyone know whether or not the rear camera display guidelines are a product of the camera itself or the Nav unit software? I understand from reading in this forum that the 2011 camera display on the Nav unit doesn't have the guidelines but the 2012 and up do? If it from the camera itself it would be a quick fix to replace it.

THANKS!!

To answer your last question----

Someone on one of the other Lambda forums installed a '13 OEM Nav head unit into his earlier model Lambda and all the new units features worked including the backup camera with the lines. This indicates to me the lines is part of the radio's software.

I have the identical situation on a 2011 Enclave. I removed a non Nav unit and put an OEM Nav unit in. I had radio reset by service from eBay (the dealer charged me but said it could not be unlocked). It took the eBay tech 2 minutes. I was there. Everything works great except no video feed from factory camera to radio (and I am adding a gps antenna). I do have rear video to the tiny mirror screen. That same plug is full of wires on the back of the Nav unit which are going somewhere... I can't seem to find a schematic for the backup camera online for the 2011 Enclave. I'll bet there is a simple fix since everything else was plug and play. If anyone has any ideas or a schematic so I can isolate the video wires, I would appreciate it. I may disconnect battery and then apply voltage to the video feed wires that I can locate. Then I may be able to hunt with an inductive voltage indicator for other wires to see where they go.
