My enclave makes a clicking noise that can be felt in the steering wheel and pedals. The dealer found a service bulletin.

Bulletin Number: 070308006
Subject: Squeak/Creak/Pop Noise from Front of Vehicle (Replace Front Strut Upper Mounts)

Condition: Some customers may comment on a squeak/creak/pop type noise coming from the front of the vehicle. This noise will most likely occur during low speed turning after a small to medium suspension travel.

Cause: The cause of this condition may be due to the front strut dust boot rubbing against the vertical face of the retaining cup.

Correction: Replace front strut upper mounts with new design.

Now we're gettin' somewhere!! This would explain almost all the clanks, thuds, pops heard by our members while driving away, after backing up and THEN some! Moving/popping/clunking, hard rubber parts, explain exactly what I hear! Makes sense as ABS "test" noise is definitively not the case, and goes unheard by most of us! I knew it wasn't a major structural problem after putting 4600 miles on my Enclave, at up to 100MPH, w/o any trauma!! :thumb:

Will have dealer do Service bulletin mentioned by ROSTEN:

This bulletin was posted on the 25th. Looks like it's not all bad camshafts:

Models: 2008 Buick Enclave

2007-2008 GMC Acadia

2007-2008 Saturn OUTLOOK

with 3.6L V6 Engine (VIN 7 -- RPO LY7)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Condition
Some customers may comment on a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL), Check Engine Light illuminated or Traction Control message with one or more of the following Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) stored:

• P0011 -- Intake Camshaft Position (CMP) System Performance Bank 1

• P0014 -- Exhaust Camshaft Position (CMP) System Performance Bank 1

• P0021 -- Intake Camshaft Position (CMP) System Performance Bank 2

If routine diagnosis using SI does not reveal any obvious cause, reprogram the ECM using the latest calibration if the above concern is encountered. A revised engine calibration has been developed to address these issues. Reprogram the ECM with an updated software calibration. This new service calibration is available on TIS2WEB using the Service Programming System (SPS). As always, make sure your Tech 2® is updated with the latest software version.

Good bulletin BD! I never knew that, even though it makes some sense. wonder if you hear it on the Caddy CTS with the same (higher HP) DFI engine?..............

Just heard a "pop" in front wheel today... Also "sounds" when turning wheel when parking. Also heard grinding noise when driving on left side when driving on hwy yesterday. Is this related to the strut recall?

Are you talking about the steering wheel ?? Just this past weekend, I seemed to hear some very faint "whining" coming from the steering wheel/column (commensurate with physically turning the wheel) while backing into/out of my driveway.

Sound came from underneath the front left side of car (tire area). Transmission always has a whiny noise - from day one. Of course I did not have "sounds" today.

Had car serviced and it was the power steering pump (no charge) and power steering system was bled. Do not hear any sounds or whining noise anymore. They did recommed to have engine filter replaced (at $150). Has anyone done? My car is only 2 yrs old w/13,000 miles.

My power steering pump seemingly failed yesterday. Almost no power steering at idle and very difficult to turn with loud whinning.
Fluid level is fine.
45,000 miles.
Nursing it over to the dealer tomorrow, if I keep the rpms up in the turns (downshift) it is somewhat driveable.

Yep, your pump failed. That's what happened to mine a few months ago. The steering was so stiff that I did not try to drive the car and called OnStar to arrange towing to the dealer.

I have never rec'd a recall notice from Buick -- Had car 2 yrs and problems so far were; transmission seal (had slight leak at 3 months), leak from roof racks (resealed) and drainage hoses and now the power steering. And front seatbelt casing. Both were replaced but "split" happening again. Will this still be covered after 5 year warranty?

Same noise from a year ago. They replaced rack. I'm going in tomorrow to dealer. A post over in steering noise suggested GM's latest attempt would be per TSB PI0029E where they bump the hose diameter and grease the pinion shaft/ MAYBE............. Service mantra is always" Tech will have to listen, etc."
I was trying to find the actual service bulletin......................

I didn't answer your question. The noise sounds just like when you pull your seat belt across chest/ a whirring sound.
"Service" lets customers do all the leg work/just bring it in and leave it with us. Ok, I'll just walk to all my errands today...............
My questions about parts availability, etc fell on deaf ear/so I called parts. TSB requires parts which are special order/ I listed the parts required and he found some here in Houston,
this is why I need to eyeball the actual TSB that lists part numbers
