I recently purchased the roof cross rails from http://www.gmaccessoriesstore.com/. I now have them installed. Installation was pretty simple except for the removal of the plasti-chrome end caps on the factory roof rack. The installation guide doesn't really explain how to do it. If you are doing it simple squeeze carefully and pull up. I have attached pictures of the product installed. The rails include locking thumbscrews so that they can be moved into different positions. They are shown in the recommended storage "when not in use" position.

Note: GM part number 12499978

Need some help here. Can anybody with the cross rails installed give me the distance between the back edge of the back cross rail and the antenna at the level of the cross rail? Also, how far up the antenna is the level of the cross rail. I have a "long" Yakima roof box and I think that it may go beyond the antenna. Being flexible, it may be OK, but I would like to know how much bending I can expect. Has anyone else used a long roof box on the Enclave? Thanks! :thumb:

Good question, xrayman. I plan to use a Thule long box on my Enclave and was wondering the same thing.

So, can somebody (meaning my husband) who is not particularly "handy" install these on his own, or should we have it done for us? He is a surfer, and won't be able to strap his board to the top unless we have them up there, so I am going to order them once we get our car..Thanks!!

Just installed these yesterday and had a bit of difficulty with the first step of the instructions: "Remvoe read end siderail cover." I'm glad this post was here. To help others, I've attached a picture of the end siderail cover after I removed it. All you do is pull up (friction holders). Other than this the install was rather simple.

Thanks a lot for the pictures, will help me a lot to install my crossbars.

About the antenna - as I will put a long windsurfer on top I am thinking to replace the factory installed antenna with a smaller one from Bosch/Blaupunkt ( looks similar to those You can see on many BMW s)
However I am not sure whether that Antenna will work with On Star.
As my car is in Germany I dont have to worry about On Star - unfortunately we don t have such nice service.

Re: Roof Racks

You can get cross rails installed (or install them yourself - that's what I did). Do a forum search on "roof rails".

Re: Roof Racks

They are just plain vanilla cross rails - you have to provide the special hardware to attach to them. There are some pictures posted by other members in other threads. Again, do a forum search for "Roof Rails".
