Steering wheel height adjustment issue

I have really enjoyed seeing several Enclaves over the past couple of weeks. Interestingly, my color preferences change -- fun to speculate. However, on another forum I recently read of an issue that could be a deal breaker for me. At 6-2, with a long torso, I don't want a sunroof. With the visibility concerns out the back, I want to sit as high as possible. I have heard that the power steering wheel adjustment doesn't go high enough to allow the guages to be seen (speedomoter, etc.) at my height (another 6-2 person posted). Apparently, an Enclave design team was contacted and the person was told not to purchase the luxury package, since the manual adjustment went higher.

Anyone heard of this problem, as yet? I would really like to know if GM has plans for a fix for this problem. Now, I'm excited to drive an Enclave with the luxury package to confirm if this is an issue. I did notice sitting in one (without time to drive it) that the wheel should go higher, but the car had a sunroof, so I adjusted the seat lower than I would have liked.

I'm really excited about the car, visibility issues notwithstanding. I don't plan on purchasing until late in the year. Would love to know if this will be corrected. GM, if you're monitoring, please offer some information. If anyone has a means by which this can be checked out, please share the info. Thanks.

I am the person who posted this issue on another forum. This would be a deal breaker for me and I planned to order an Enclave this fall. Basically, when I sit in the drivers seat, even with the seat adjusted all the way down and the steering wheel all the way up, I can't see the top of the speedometer. I will not be able to glance down and see my speed at typical highway speeds. This is only an issue with the luxury package and the power wheel adjustment.
It does seem like an easy fix but I'm not an engineer and I don't know what's inside the steering column. There is plenty of travel up and down in the adjustment. It just goes down too low and not up high enough. They don't need to change the motor that controls the adjustment. It seems to me it just needs to be mounted at a slightly different angle inside the column. Maybe just a slight adjustment to the way the bracket that it is mounted to is made.
I sure hope this gets corrected soon because I would really like to have an Enclave.

I'm 6' 2" also and noticed this during one of the test drives I took (all CXL's/lux pkg). At the time I too couldn't see the top of the speedometer either.

Now that I own one I have been able to adjust the seat to a comfortable position and see all of the instrument panel. I set the wheel full up, seat down and back slightly. I also have it reclined somewhat. This allows me more than enough room to see everything and maintain a comfortable driving position.

In the last week I've actually raised the seat a little. The full speedometer is still visible and I sit a little higher. What you see will depend on how much you recline and how far back from the dash you sit. BTW, the driver lumbar support is fantastic on this vehicle.

My 1992 Trooper has heated, foldable mirrors - a feature I've used countless times. Also, I really want the directional headlamps AND the benefit of seat memory, convenient for both my wife and me. Only Volvo XC-90 and some others have the directional headlamps as an option. Without some of these features, the Enclave isn't quite as attractive.

GM, take note and please advise if this is, in fact, a correctable problem. There are MANY taller drivers who will consider GM (Enclave, Acadia, Outlook), if the personal fit and quality are there. I'm pretty much sold on a loaded Enclave, but MUST be comfortable -- seeing the dash is rather important, no?
I'm very pleased to report after driving an Enclave with the luxury package that the steering wheel adjustment was not an issue! This is good news since we have felt the Enclave offers the best value for the money after extensive research on CUVs. I almost never use the emoticons, but this calls for :blob:

So the big question is what height and weight are you. Ok you do not have to answer all the questions just pick the one that matters most.... :angel:
