Stuck In Park after using remote start - Noisy tires

I ts been pretty hot in the NW lately, so yesterday I used the remote start (Locked the doors, then started the car from the fob). Everything was fine, I hopped in after a few minutes, and inserted the key, turned it, and the instrument panel came alive, but I could not shift out of park, until I turned off the car, then started it again with the key. Has this happened to anyone else yet, or did I do a bone head thing, and not turn the key far enough the first time?

Also, I have noticed, when the temp is over 100, the road gets soft, and the Michilin tires are really noisy at about 35mph - sounds like the tranny is grinding. It clears up with different road surface, or when it cools, so I am pretty sure its tire noise.

I have to ask just to make sure. Are you placing your foot on the brake when you are trying to shift into drive after using the remote start. It's just like when you start it under normal conditions. You have to have your foot on the brake to shift out of park. If that's not it, i'm not sure what it could be.

You have to turn the key to the second position, not the first. The dash should have come alive far enough so that the tachometer was active. If it was not showing your RPM, you did not turn the key far enough.
