Tire Brands for 2018-2023 models (255/55-20) Larger size options (275/50-20)

What brand of tires are people putting on their cars?
My 2018 Enclave needs new tires. Currently it has the Continental CrossContact LX20
Factory Size: 255/55-20
The newer Continental model "LX25" is a better weather tire from what I see online. The problem is they do not come in that size.
If I were to change tire size to a 275/50-20 I can get the LX25 tires. One of my questions, has anyone installed this 275/50-20 larger size tire on their 2018-2023 Enclave? Do they fit without rubbing?
The other brand I'm looking at is the Cooper Endeavor Plus. Any opinion on this tire? wear- traction - noise, etc...

They might fit but would probably throw off your speedometer.
i have had bridgestone on my 09 Traverse LTZ and a 15 Enclave Premium. I like that tire much better than what they are using on these cars today.
Larger diameter tires will hurt your fuel economy and performance and speedo, trans shifting and engine fueling will be affected. Best not to change sizes.
We've put Michelin Defender LTX's on and found them to be good. Expensive, but good.

If your 2018 Enclave has 255/55R20 tires on it now, I believe your wheel spec is 8Jx20 ET50. Your tires have the following spec.:
  • Rim Width Range: 7-9"
  • Tread Width: 8"
  • Section Width: 10.4"
  • Overall Diameter: 31"
  • Revs per Mile: 669
The 275/50R20 tires have the followng spec.:
  • Rim Width Range: 7.5-9.5"
  • Tread Width: 9.3"
  • Section Width: 11.2"
  • Overall Diameter: 30.8"
  • Revs per Mile: 674
Given your rim width is 8", both tires would fit comfortably on the original factory wheels. Given the 275/50R20 tires are just slightly smaller in diameter, you will not have a problem with tread rubbing on anything. The key thing is the 275/50R20 tires have a section width that is greater by 0.8". You would be best served having someone put your Enclave on a lift - a lift that has ramps the tires are on to lift the vehicle (so the suspension is in a normal position) and check at the rear tires if you have at least 1/2" of clearance at the widest part of the tire (section width) against any of the suspension items and the fender wheel opening. At the front, do the same, and turn the tires to lock in both directions to make sure the extra 1/2" width on each side of the tire is clear, to allow the wider tire to not contact anything.

My assumption is that the 275/50R20 tires will fit on your vehicle, but I would need to verify by doing the steps in the above paragraph.

The 275/50R20 Continental Crosscontact LX25 tires do look like they are at the top of the rating chart for Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season tires, better than the 255/55R20 Continentals. But be aware that the tire contact patch to the road will be larger (given the larger tread width), which tends to decrease snow traction. If you live in an area that has snow on the ground for multiple months during winter, you need to be aware of this. If you have an AWD vehicle, then this item would be of less concern.

I put stock size Michelin Defender LTX2 on my 2021 Avenir and it made a world of difference! Worth every dollar!
