Tire Info 19" Michelins

Question was asked on Acadia Forum about 19" tires for Enclave by sunshadw...19" Michelins are specific for Enclave and were tuned to provide good ride, handling and most of all QUIET for the Buick QuietTuning. While not quite at the same level of performance as the 19" Goodyear Eagles on the others...don't think most customers will aggressively "Autocross" these vehicles to the level that they'd see the difference!

I hope this does not imply that snow preformance will be crap. If I get the Enclave I am stuck with 19" wheels due to wanting the CXL. I hope they didn't tune the 19's for "performance". It's not a sports car. I need decent winter performance.

zman...michelins on the Enclave are NOT tuned for performance. They are a great all season tire. Had the opportunity to take a FWD over Wolf Creek Pass in CO during a late fall snow storm (I'm sure light by CO standards, but the roads were snow covered!) and they and the Enclave handled it with NO white knuckled experiences! Very sure footed. Speaks well of the tires and the vehicle! Having said they are NOT tuned for performance...you'll also find that you are not really giving up the performance that you will use...they can really hold a freeway ramp should you decide to push it!
Are the standard CXL tires the same as the optional 19" tires?

Thanks for the info. That is what I was hoping for. I hate it when car companies (Mazda) put performance tires on trucks/vans (CX-9). If I am going for AWD and a truck, why would I want performance tires? I just don't get that.
gmoney...there is only one 19" tire (the Michelin) regardless of the 19" wheel you choose. The 18" tire is the same Goodyear Fortera as on the Outlook and Acadia. It is a great tire as well!
If you're concerned about snow, you should buy winter tires. No all-season is nearly as good as a proper winter tire for snow and ice. As concerned as people are about safety, I'm surprised so few buy winter tires.

That said, I find the snow and ice performance of the Goodyears on the others to be marginal. The Michelins will probably be at least a bit better, since they aren't performance tires.

Performance tires are offered on large SUVs in an attempt to please people like me, I'm afraid ;D

Tire question again! I just picked up a brochure and really like the 'Later Release' 20" chrome six spoke wheels. What kind of tires? Even by squinting I can't read the sidewall. Will they also be Michelins? Maybe 55 series?

sunshdw...the 20's will be available from GM SPO. I believe Goodyear is providing all the 20's. I will confirm. mkaresh...while I understand the "purist" view of your comments regarding tires...I can assure you after putting 12,000 miles on a FWD Outlook with the 18 inch Goodyears, through the Michigan Winter and taking the 19" Michelins and 18" Goodyears over Wolf Creek Pass on the Enclave with both drive configurations...as well as driving numerous Acadias with both tire and drive packages...these tires will perform at or above most customers winter expectations. For those that like to spend money on tires...by all means feel free. My experience says it's not necessary.
So the 19" Michelins on the Enclave sound very acceptable?

I'm sure they are tuned to give the Quite Tuning not like the Mazda 20's that give you the rattle treatment.
