Hello everyone,

Does anyone have experience with putting 265/50/20 tires instead of 255/55/20?

Thanks in advance!

The speedometer would only be off 1.2 mph at 60mph. I've run snows that were off more than this with no issue on lots of vehicles.

You're losing 5.5% in sidewall so it's going to ride a little rougher (and lots of people complain the stock 20's are already too rough) and you're pickling up 4% in width which will make it a little more prone to hydroplaning but so little you probably won't notice.

I guess the question is why not just stick with the factory size? Are you finding a specific tire you can only get in the 265 size? Better prices on the 265s?

Thank you for your comment! Regarding your question: it is because of price, I can buy 265 Coopers at less than 100 USD a piece, here in Mexico the possibilty to destroy a tire before the end of his regular life is high. Unfortunately, I can't get any 255 tires close to this price if there are not from unnkown asian brands.
