Has anyone heard about putting nitrogen in their tires? My next door neighbor Owns 3 tire stores and he swears by Nitrogen.
It is an Inert Gas (noncombustable) that NASCAR and other Racers have used for years. Technology has just caught up to a reasonable
way for local Tire Stores to use it.
Benefits:
1. Tire holds pressure for up to 10 Mos or more ( unless you have a flat) and is not affected by heat, cold or altitude changes.
2. Reduces heat build up at highway speeds.
3. Is noncorrosive to Aluminum Rims

My Dealer Charges $19.99 + Tax for up to 18" rims and $22.95 + Tax for up t0 20" Rims. That is "EACH" Tire

I will have him put it in my tires when I finally receive my Enclave. we are planning on a long trip this summer and will see how it works out
Costco uses Nitrogen in tires. It is free if you bought you tires from there. According to the pamphlet they gave, it is drier compare to air, so in hot weather inside of the tires doesn't get worn out as much or as easily.

They highly recommend to bring in the car any time you put regular air in the tires due to slow leak or flat, so they can release all air and refill the tire with Nitrogen, again the service is free when you purchase your tires from them.

I finally went on a 186 Mile trip. I only had 60 miles on the odometer when I started so I could not use the cruise. Went to Tampa FL and Back to Sebring FL
23.6 MPG Average. This included heavy traffic and a lot of stopping. I had 25MPG until I hit Heavy Traffic.

YES!! I HAD NITROGEN PUT IN MY TIRES A FEW DAYS AFTER I Picked up the car. I have a one year guarantee
and they will "TOP OFF" the nitrogen or replace it if I have a flat. Also covers my tires and road service if I need it.

Drove 246 miles yesterday, primarily freeway (60-80 mph). Averaged 22.3 mpg. Driving AWD w/ approx 1400 miles on it. I found that it did better when I took it off cruise control, and managed my acceleration myself.

How could you tell you were better? Were there hills to fool the cruise?

Thought this was a good thread to resurrect, as I was curious what people are getting for mileage. Mine is under 16 MPG and I have about 1200 miles so far, mixed city/highway driving, mostly suburb type driving. I have AWD. Hoping the mileage will improve like some of these earlier posts. ;)

AWD here as well. Started with high 14's to low 15's when it was new. Now, with about 4500 miles on it I routinely get in the low to mid 16's (in town). No change in driving, other than it is now much colder than initially. If anything that should decrease milage. Pretty happy with that for the size of vehicle that it is. :thumb:

Driving conditions really play a big part in MPG. In the morning, in light traffic, across town, with lots of stop and go, I get about 15 MPG. Same route, on the way home, in the rush hour crawl, I only get about 13 MPG. My average speed in the morning is around 22-23 MPH, coming home it averages about 18-19 MPH. On the interstate, with mildly rolling hills, with cruise set at 70 MPH, I usually average around 24-25 MPG. I have AWD with 3,500 miles on the odometer. Not great mileage, but acceptable to me for a ride this large and comfortable. I must also admit to being a little heavy footed.

I have 1400 miles on mine and am barely getting 14 mpg. my "trip average" for this tank currently at 12.9 All city driving. No jackrabbit starts, no out of the ordinary idling.

I'm not a very happy camper about it.

Hoping for some improvement as I get more miles on the car.

Averaging around town....varies --but usually 14-17 mpg. Highway/ interstate, just got back from a trip. Checked it out and it came to 22.6 mpg. Not complaining at all, especially considering the weight of this vehicle! I usually keep the cruise at 70-72mph.

Last weekend we took our first trip in the Enclave; about 350 miles each way to visit one of our Daughters and her family. I changed the oil (had about 1,300 miles on the Enclave) and put in Mobil 1 5W30 and a Mobil 1 filter the day before we left. I reset the "average economy" when we got on the interstate and got 24.1 on the trip up and 23.9 on the trip back. I expect the mileage will improve slightly when we get a few more miles on it.
I was very pleased with the operation of the transmission through the rolling hills of central and north Florida.
One other observation;this is the quietest vehicle I have ever been in. It's amazing how much more enjoyable a trip is when the road noise is reduced to the level it is in the Enclave.

I have almost 400 miles on my AWD Enclave. I received it from the dealer with a full tank of gas and have filled it twice. My MPG is 12.8. Pretty horrible. I have tried to keep it under 55 mph on highway and do mostly local around town driving. I am really easy on the gas, so it is not my lead foot at this point. I sure am hoping the MPG improves. If not, when I have 500 miles on the Enclave, I will drive up to the dealer's and see if the settings are wrong.

I'm curious, why did you change the oil with only 1300 miles? Have I missed something? Guess I better get out the owners manual!!

I discovered the other day that if you don't drive like there is an egg under the accelerator but you just drive fairly easily that these beasts get better mileage. Maybe has something to do with getting into the higher gear ratios faster?
