When you place an order into the system the first step it goes to is 1100 (Preliminary) That means the order has passed GM's edit tables and is a valid "Buildable" order. It also is when an order # is generated and assigned to it. This order # is the one that will follow it until it is built. It also is what is used to make sure you have things like price protection in the case of a price increase between the order time and invoice time. 1101 is essentially the same thing as 1100. The only difference is 1101 is more of an internal code for GM. They both still mean that it is a preliminary order still. When your order gets accepted by GM for production it will move to 2000. Here is the brief list of Status codes that are applicable to an order as far as the customer is concerned.:

Order status codes:
1100 = Preliminary Order (Order passed GM edit tables but dealers has not received allocation to place order)
2000 = Accepted By GM (Dealer used allocation to place order into production)
2500 = Preferenced (Order pulled to the production system)
3000 = Accepted By Production Control (Order input into the production system)
3100 = Sequenced (Order sequenced for Production)
3300 = Scheduled For Production (Order is scheduled into the plant build cycle)
3400 = Broadcast (Order is sent to various build & supplier areas to bring order together)
3800 = Produced (Order is built and VIN# shows in the Dealer Order system now)
4150 = Invoiced (Order is invoiced to the dealer)
4200 = Shipped (Vehicle is shipped to the dealer or point of delivery)
5000 = Delivered To Dealer
6000 = Delivered To Customer

There are other codes but they are almost exclusively used internally by GM and have no real effect on the status of the order as pertaining to the customer.

When you order your Enclave or any other GM vehicle you can call them and ask what the Status Event Code is, and they will give you one of the numbers above. This will help you figure out where your order is within the system.

you ask that salesman if he ordered your car as a special order or part of his allocation? cause he will charge different price if it is part of his allocation. everyone is getting these great deals because they are special ordering. if he is trying to charge you msrp then it more than likely is part of his allocation and not a special order.
Precisely why most of us hate the buying experience of a car.
I ordered the car with an MSRP price $43970 and received a delivered quotation $40,700, about $273.00 over invoice. It would not surprise me if the dealer will come up with more fees when I am ready to take delivery. However, I am ready to walk away.
When we order a car, the dealers carry no inventory, they receive the factory to dealer cash, dealer hold back, carry over allowances, floor plan kickbacks, and more, Etc.
Perhaps he is jerking me around, typical NYS dealership.

Seriously getting a wee bit ticke off here. I know other people have been waiting longer, but I was told that the Enclave I ordered was part of my dealer's allocation, and since I put a bit of money down, that it would be shown as a "sold order" and expedited accordingly. So, my question is, are there dealers not receiving their allotment, as I was supposed to be receiving my Enclave this week, but it doesn't appear likely as I just found that it is still at a status code of 3000.

Just had a nasty conversation with the dealer :angryfire: :angryfire:

We ordered on May 10 with the luxury package. Since last Tuesday the order status has moved to 3400 (in production). I read on the forum that a lot of people who ordered in May have been assigned a build date of August 13 or 20. But my dealer never told me any build date. Called him this afternoon to inquire about it and he got extremely impatient. I asked him to double check if the system has logged a build date and he said no and wouldn't check for me. How is it possible to be at the 3400 stage with no build date assigned? I almost got to the point of canceling the order.

glimo,
Don't do it -- don't cancel because your dealer is an a$$. I'd suggest calling into the Buick Owner center, have them open up a case for you and explain this in a calm and rational manner that your dealer is a jerk, this is no way to treat a customer, and that you considered or are considering cancelling your order. Then give them your 6 digit order number (I'm assuming you have this from your dealer, it's the info in VOMS that is assigned to your order, a combo of letters and sometimes numbers that identify your specific order. If you don't have it, I suspect it will take quite a bit of arm-wrestling to get the folks at Buick to actually track this down for you, but I'm sure they can.

Buick needs to know and understand that we, their now and future (maybe) customers are not being treated on par with what the level of quality they would like to be know for and we need to keep applying pressure to make sure this changes. People buy a Lexus not just because they expect it to be trouble-free -- they buy it for the overall buying & ownership experience -- like our business matters to the dealer and to the company at large.

Yeah, I'm glad that I didn't cancel it right then on the phone. Last night I searched all the dealers in the area and found nothing close to what we wanted. And I do still want an Enclave no matter what :'(

I'm sure that dealer secretly hoped that I canceled, since he could sell it for a much higher price now without much effort.

You are right. I will report this to Buick. I'm not going to spend $42k to be treated this badly. Believe it or not, this salesperson is actually the better one in the dealership. My overall experience with GM dealers has not been positive.

By the way, those of you who have a build date, what was your status code then?

#37 ·
Oh well, that means the dealer lied to me either about the status code or about not having a build date. And of course the first scenario would be worse. When I told him about what people on this forum are getting, he accused me of trusting total strangers rather than him and said I was humiliating him. Now where did that come from!

Hopefully I can just go in the dealership with my check and out with my long-waited Enclave in an hour and finish dealing with this jerk forever!

Glimo,
Maybe he was just having a really bad day >:D
Ah, don't worry about what he says -- he'll hop over it and if he doesn't, you always have the power of the GM survey -- and you always have the power to write a letter or email to the "right" people at Buick and GM. I think they take a lot more of that to heart than we all think. If they didn't, I don't believe we'd have the kind of input from the folks at the Lansing plant here on our forum. They have provided some real insight and good answers to many of us -- I do believe many/most of them care quite a bit about what we think. :thumb:

They say all good things come to those who wait - I was beginning to doubt the truth of this - I ordered my Enclave on May 18 -

CXL, Red Jewel Tintcoat, Ebony, Driver Conf. Pkg, Lux Pkg, Sunroof, Entertainment #2, Towing Pkg -

my dealer kept checking and they called me on August 1 to say it had been assigned a build date of August 21 - they called again last week Friday (august 24) to say they had it invoiced and Vin Number and that they were informed the Enclave was being shipped -

I went in yesterday (Monday) to find out when they might expect it to arrive - they said plan on delivery next week sometime (After Labor Day) they showed me the invoice so I could now believe that it might really be arriving -

today (Tuesday) on the way home from work my cell phone rang and I usually don't answer it while driving but I did - it was my dealer saying "Your Red Jewel had just come down the ramp and is on our lot, looks like the wait is finally over......"

I have to say the dealer I worked with here, and all of their staff have been in the customers corner - they stayed on top of things and I cannot say enough for them - I will pick her up on Friday morning and have it for the holiday weekend - will post pic and let you know how it works out. It seems that once you get that build date, things do move very fast - :thumb:

Glimo,

By the way, why were you on your way with a check? Did your Enclave show up today???

Thanks!
I wish! That's just my plan when the vehicle finally arrives. If I can get the VIN# before Sept. 9, I'd be thrilled since we have the $500 AT&T Golf Tournament rebate expiring then.

I never thought I'd be so enthusiastic about a car. With a two month old baby, it's amazing that I still try to find time to post on this forum. Hubby and I almost bought a Volvo XC90 in April but balked due to the reliability issues. Jumping on a first year model is certainly risky, but Enclave just has that irresistible charm. I have fallen so deep .... :beer:

i dont consider the enclave a 1st year model because it is on the same platform as the outlook and acadia and they were the trial run as far as i can see...

Are there any Dealer's that participate on this forum that would be willing to check an order status. I am having difficulty getting any information from my dealer.

I'm not used to being in the dark with a factory order. When I've ordered vehicles in the past, I was always given an order number, and a toll free number or a website that I could use to track my vehicle in production. This is a bit frustrating not knowing...

Thanks!

See if this helps you:

5000 = Delivered To Dealer
6000 = Delivered To Customer

Mine took a week for the production and 10 days from the production to delievery at the dealer and I picked it up the next day.

I've never ordered a vehicle before. Which manufacturers let you do that?

Re: Order Status

From my GM engineer son today when I asked about Enclave productivity "I heard that people in my organization were surveying their Enclave suppliers regarding their capacity. GM IS going to push everything and everybody hard to make and sell more, especially when it's a high-end vehicle like the Enclave. Typically, suppliers are tooled up to a certain level of capacity. In addition they are typically required to be capable of making that target +15% without needing new tooling (only overtime). Based on that, I would say that demand right now for the Enclave is at least 15% higher then o :banghead:riginally projected. It's a good problem to have, but one that can quickly turn people off. I will try to keep you posted." My son is a Quality Assurance Engineer with GM.

On my "just posted" post, it should read as 'originally planned'. I don't know where that word "bang-head" came from. Sorry!
FYI - you can always modify your post. Did you do a cut and paste job? The :banghead: should be an emoticon but apparently it got imbedded in the word original.
