Buick and Jaguar have tied for #1 in reliability in the newest J.D. Power reliability survey released just this morning. Lexus dropped to # 2. I hope GM uses this info in their marketing.
Dunno 'bout that... J.D. Power has always had a pretty solid reputation for conducting unbiased surveys. They make their money by selling the results to companies surveyed for study and, for the companies rated highly, the right to include their endorsement/findings in advertising...silicron said:I wonder how much GM and Jaguar paid for those results. It's all advertising/marketing. Buick and Jaguar wouldn't beat out Lexus even in an alternate universe. Jaguars are the worst. Probably the only makes worse than Jaguar for reliability are Land Rover, Mercedes, BMW and SAAB. I treat all of these "awards" as just marketing drivel. It's whoever pays the most under the table out of sight gets the award. I'm calling shenanigans.
:sosad: sad, but so true...zman said:This is not directed at anyone at all but I find it rather humorous that people will pull out surveys like this when it supports their agenda but then dismiss the validity when it does not jive with their preconceived notion of the way things should be. This goes for import lovers as well as domestic defenders. We all tend to believe what we want to believe.
And you believe all that?wait4me said:Dunno 'bout that... J.D. Power has always had a pretty solid reputation for conducting unbiased surveys. "...How can J.D. Power and Associates information be unbiased when manufacturers pay for the studies?
J.D. Power and Associates syndicated studies generally are not funded by the companies that are measured. The firm’s syndicated studies are funded and owned by the firm and based on the aggregated responses of consumer perceptions of product quality and customer satisfaction —not the opinions of J.D. Power and Associates. After the study results are published, manufacturers, retailers, suppliers, and other industry participants can choose whether or not to purchase the study. Ownership of study data is key to the firm's independence and unbiased position. This third-party perspective enables J.D. Power and Associates to provide clients and consumers with credible and clear feedback. Although J.D. Power and Associates does conduct custom research for many clients to help drive quality and customer satisfaction improvement, results of this type of proprietary research are owned by the clients that commission the research and the results are not made available to the public..."

Jaguar earned that poor reputation back in the British Leyland days, it is a different company now.silicron said:I wonder how much GM and Jaguar paid for those results. Admittedly their results are only as good as consumer input, but I do think that if anything (as mentioned by kidsenclave) the surveys would tend to be slightly biased against a specific product since dissatisfied consumers would seem to have more incentive to complete and turn in a survey... e.g. - ticked off owners tend to sound off...silicron said:And you believe all that?
You don't seem biased at all. :silicron said:I wonder how much GM and Jaguar paid for those results. It's all advertising/marketing. PAPoPo, have you bought your beloved hyundai yet? If so I'm holding the EXIT door wide open for you to LEAVE! We all know that you have had a couple bad experiences with GM and that is too bad(honestly) but this is a Buick forum and obviously PRO GM. So why dont you go find a nice little hyudai forum and dog on GM all you want with the other traitors. :violent: :moon: :bootyshake:

Perhaps when you've built a more lengthy positive track record I'll be more inclined to go with your evaluations rather than J.D. ...
I do agree with your assessment of what Jaguar used to be, having owned one back in the day... Far different machine today - love to own one & am tempted to turn in the A8L. Unfortunately, the wife still hasn't gotten over a few incidents involving the old Jag... Have owned several Beemers & never had to do more than change oil & tires...
I do have a grip, on the door knob, and its still wide open. And the traitors part was toward America not just GM. Ya it was a little overboard but I dont understand buying non American vehicles.PAPoPo said:LMAO traitors...like anyone owes Gm anything.....get a grip KID...get a grip![]()
Maybe when you are no longer a tax deduction and are earning your keep you will understand more.....thx tralfaz for knowing where my mindset is in regards to GM. After talking to you several times over the phone you tend to gain a better understanding of the issue than making assinine snap judgements like some have chosen to do.Gmoney_2010 said:I do have a grip, on the door knob, and its still wide open.
